What did you buy this week?

Bought the hydraulic fan guard for my Massey gc2410, and a left side step. Should be here Monday.

    GVWR Question Chevy 25[emoji6️⃣46️⃣][emoji6️⃣46️⃣]/Ford F25[emoji6️⃣46️⃣]

I noticed when I bought my f250 the leaf springs on the fords have less leaves but are thicker than the GM.

    Your last generator Maintenance Run

I see the yellow light is on, indicating I need to do something. I’ll check it out later. Probably wants an oil change. I did it last summer and it hasn’t been used much since.

    Kubota vs Massey advice

I was surprised to see a buddy’s kubota the other day when compared to my Massey gc2410. The Kubota’s backhoe, on a tractor that was one size up from my gc, looked so flimsy. Mine looks much larger, with thicker steel everywhere but the bucket itself. My outriggers are way more substantial. His...

    Z-Turn suspension worth it?

I like the Toro my ride. Very good at smoothing out the ride.

Sizing floor joists, and thickness and type of plywood sheeting?

You can also space your joists at 12” oc to get a better rating on 2x8s. I wouldn’t go any less than 3/4” for the floor. Advantech flooring is great, but 3/4” T&G subfloor plywood would work just as well.

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Cut up an apple tree that fell over last summer. Finally able to do heavier work after breaking my ankle. Chipped all the limbs with the 3 point chipper. Used the forks to haul the 4’ chunks away. Then mowed the entire area that couldn’t be mowed before. I use my wheel horse 314 for a brush...

    old pressed "tin/metal" ceiling

I think it was 2 coats of paint to be considered encapsulated. Been a long time since I took that lead abatement seminar. Maybe a couple clear coats if you like the original finish.

    Roof - Repair or Replace

If you’ve got a leak in one section, chances are more of them will soon appear. At least get the entire section replaced. If not, the whole thing, because the rest is probably not far behind.

Balky (rusty) tailgate latch on GMC pick-up

I’d just get it loose with penetrating oil and movement, then put a few drops of engine oil on the pivots. A little dirt accumulation won’t hurt anything. Beats a seized up dry one any day.

Toro 70750 Zero Turn Tracking Issue

Are your tires slipping? Doesn’t take much for mine to slip when I’m backing up, and cause me to go all goofy.

I hope I can prevent this from happening to other operators.

Most definitely. I felt really bad for my wife, who had to pick up the slack. I’ve got twin boys, age 9. She worked her butt off during that time (and still does) I couldn’t get up and down the steps. In-laws being just up the street helped a lot.

I hope I can prevent this from happening to other operators.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend and moving forward. Broke my ankle on January 31 after falling off a ladder, I was only 2 steps up. Been on ladders all my adult life. Grabbed my helper’s ladder, not mine and it kicked sideways when I was pushing up on a board. Down I went. Had surgery to...
