    Bush Hog repair question

It doesn’t have any shielding. The previous owner/s beat the hell out of this thing over the years. The skids have been reinforced with new metal, there’s no deflectors on front or back, and it has no stump jumper. It’s just a deck, gearbox, and blades. I try not to abuse it, but it does hit the...

    Bush Hog repair question

As I’ve already mentioned, those 2 items would total nearly $800. No way I’m sinking that into an old bush hog that came with the tractor when I bought it. Also not buying just the OEM replacement bar for $440. I’m going to talk to some local places to see what options I have to have a new bar...

    Bush Hog repair question

It’s slotted to slip over a key in the shaft. I’m going to try to get it off tomorrow. I can see what a local machine shop would charge to duplicate it vs welding. I don’t know if a local welder will touch it for liability reasons.

    Bush Hog repair question

No way I’m buying a replacement bar. They are $440 online from multiple suppliers. Not worth it. I think a competent welder could grind that crack open a little and fill it with a good bead. I’m not him. I’ll check around and get some opinions from a couple of shops. Otherwise, I’ll have to sell...

    Here’s the crack.

    Bush Hog repair question

I’ll try to get under it this evening. I’d sure hate to scrap it. It’s solid otherwise. Just put top and bottom seals on the gearbox, and it runs like a champ. It’s a Bush Hog 266, so old solid built machine.

    Bush Hog repair question

I have an old 6’ Bush Hog that has a cracked blade bar at the edge of the shaft hole for the gear box. It doesn’t have a stump jumper, and I hit the bar on a stump the last time I mowed. Is this something that can be safely welded to repair, or is that too risky? I know balancing will be an...

    MF 255 tachometer issue

Thank you for your response. I plan to pull the tach gauge tomorrow to see if I can maybe find something to free up. It’s like the needle is stuck in position to the spinning portion that interfaces with the cable tip. It probably will need to be replaced, but I might as well try something.

    MF 255 tachometer issue

Nobody has any experience with a cable spun tachometer pegging out? I’d appreciate any thoughts on how this might happen.

    MF 255 tachometer issue

My MF 255 tachometer maxes out when I crank it. It doesn’t move after that, stays pegged out. I can’t spin the tachometer cable stem at the engine when unplugged at the gauge like when the insert on the cam shaft is wallowed out. When the gauge is disconnected, I can turn the center where the...

Feed fluid to remotes from FEL supply

Great info. Much appreciated. I was online earlier looking at Summit 2 spool valves with 1 and 2 floats. $189 vs $224. Might be worth $35 to have the float option for both sets of remotes. I currently have very basic implements for this old tractor with no rear remote requirements, but plan to...

Feed fluid to remotes from FEL supply

Just curious. What application would the float function on the rear remotes allow for? I believe the float on a FEL allows for backdragging gravel and dirt.

Feed fluid to remotes from FEL supply

Thanks Lou. You described my setup perfectly. I have power dump and power curl on the bucket, but only power lift on the arms with gravity dump. Swapping the order of valves sounds like the easiest solution. The single spool valve hanging on the fender may or may not function properly. The inlet...

Feed fluid to remotes from FEL supply

I’m not sure if it’s open or closed. There is a single line running from the TS300 to the loader valve inlet. Out of the Gresen dual spool valve I have 2 lines going to the bucket for tilt, and a single line going to the lift arms that has a tee to split right and left arms. There is a port on...

Feed fluid to remotes from FEL supply

I have a MF 255 with a Freeman 3000 FEL. I'm running a TS300 diverter valve off the top of the housing to feed the FEL. The loader has a dual spool Gresen valve, but can't see a model number. The previous owner pulled the supply to the single spool for a single set of rear remotes, and I need to...
