My solenoid self-destructed the other day. The local dealer said the solenoid isn't available by itself and that I would have to buy a starter also, at a cost of over $500. I have not been able to find one online. Anyone know where I can get a solenoid for a Mitsubishi K3E engine?

The starter spins but doesn't engage the flywheel. I've never dealt with this problem before. What can I do to fix this? I have some mechanical skills but am no mechanic. Any suggestions welcome. shredder
