PTO engagement with bush hog rough

PTO engagement on my 6' rotary has always been on the harsh side. I just engage the PTO at 1000-1200 RPM and wait a couple seconds for it to smooth out before increasing engine speed. Been doing that for 10 years now without any issues.

    LS MT468

That sounds like the same guy who posted about his LS backhoe breaking under "normal use". When he was proven to have abused it, he wasn't heard from again. May have rejoined under a new alias.

    STILL RUNNING HOT!!

When mine regens, I'm usually at 2200rpm, and the engine speeds up a little, maybe 50rpm. I don't agree that you must be running at 2700+rpm during regen. PTO speed should be more than sufficient. My temp gauge goes up a bit during regen, which is expected, but it has never gone past about 3/4...

    Releasing stuck hood

The release button on my XR4145 sticks as well from time to time. Spray some WD-40 on it and it will loosen up. The mechanism dries out quickly for some reason.

Synthetic Winch Rope for Forestry Winch

I have a Farmi JL501 winch on the back of my tractor, and I'm looking at replacing the cable soon. Does anyone have experience with using synthetic cable in place of steel for this application? I use chokers, so I would not be wrapping the synthetic rope around the tree for skidding. I replaced...

XR3135 Oil Filter Cross Ref (40318591)

That filter number was superseded to 40409065. Many others on here are using Wix WL7426 in its place. Check the thread below for substitute filters: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/ls-tractor-oil-gas-air-filter-information.192544/page-39

    Log winch

Op - I have a Farmi JL501 for my tractor. Bought it used several years ago, and it has been one of the best tractor purchases I've made. The only thing I would have liked it to have is a 2" square receiver tube built in. That would be super handy for hooking up a supply trailer without having to...

Where did you get your diesel tank?

That sounds like the way I bought mine. 10 years ago, though, and not near Pittsburgh. I got it home and rinsed it out with some fresh diesel, and have been using it ever since with no issues.

Admit Your Failure! Mower off the 3-point but PTO still connected...

Had the ROPS folded down so I could fit the tractor in the garage. While driving out, I didn't notice that the ROPS tube got ahold of the garage door release, and the timing was perfect for me to be just outside the door when the folded-down ROPS grabbed the bottom of the garage door and bent it...

Back hoe hanging on by a thread!!

I have the same backhoe with many hundreds of hours and no issues. All of the weight of the backhoe hangs on the rear support under the tractor. The only way I could think it would crack there (barring bad tubing material) is if you were digging or pulling something heavy without the landing...

    Fix? or No?

If it was working with that stuff floating around the bottom of the housing, it should work just as well without it in there. Besides, if you do have a failure in the future, you would potentially be replacing the same parts anyway, right? Why do the work twice?

Do You Stop When Something Breaks?

Wrap the open parts of the fuel system in plastic, duct tape it off, and do the rest of the maintenance. Strongly agree that you will inevitably find something else and have to make a second parts order.

    Thoughts on a 2019 LS XR3135H- only 45 hrs??

I'd opt for the cab if only used in the summer for mowing. Just a note about the HP, my father has an L235 that will turn a 5ft bush hog pretty well, but you have to slow down in thick grass. An XR3135 should do at least that. Depends what you're mowing. I cut my parents' 19 acre field a few...

Does it still have to be programmed by a dealer?

XR4040H blowing fuel shut off fuse

There are lots of threads about bad grounds on the XR4xxx tractors, as well as wear spots for the wiring harness causing shorts, particularly around the radiator. Check along the harness, starting from the fuse box, and see if there are any worn spots. Probably a good idea to disconnect the...
