A quick test would be to make sure tractor is off and stopped and tie the 2 out board blades in position with a 1/4" expendable rope or 3 or 4 lengths of baler twine.
Make sure no one else is around and start tractor put pto in gear...

I have a leak on my front axle I don't see what keeps the bearing and gear on.
I disassembled it to change the upper bevel spindle seal and it stayed together.
Did any one else have to change one???
