I believe there are 3 main factors that will determine which would be best to suit your needs. All have their place, even a wheeled skid steer, but I don't believe acreage is the right place for that.

I will add that commercial trucks using pintle hitches are designed to handle much more than 10% tongue weight. I've seen as much as 40% of rated capacity to be on the truck. Average pintle tongue weight is 20-25%. Yes it does tow better, is safe, and is designed to be that way.

Finally joining after reading so many threads. I just bought a John Deere 345 to replace the problematic Cub Cadet RZT that will hopefully sell soon.
