In rocky New England fields the blade will eventually cut open the deck of light duty mowers like a can opener. I have found that rounding the top corner of high lift blades like the middle picture will spread the impact out and stretch the deck metal, leaving a shallow welt like the 1st picture. With a stock blade it slices into the deck, eventually looking like it was attacked by a giant can opener. This mower has about 600 acres on it, the slice in the 3rd photo was made on the first mow before it was modified. None have occurred since.
