I do need to eat some crow, the Slate does have a Frunk, so there is some closed dry storage in the base config.

I can only wonder what future landfills and the repercussions of mass amounts of large batteries will be like.
Most batteries are recycled.

VW has developed a process where they grind up the used batteries and separate out all the materials. They say they have a 96% reclaim rate and all the materials can be reused to make new batteries. Hopefully others will come up with similar processes.
