Installed new loader valve - now 3pt lift won't work

Jim, what is the possible back pressure that could occur on the loader valve.

I already know what you are going to say. Well it worked years ago when I was younger, but Jim, we get old and break for unknown reasons.

And what is the tank port pressure. recommend by the manufacturer.

Do you always question everything and everybody. It does get old.

If you are going to help somebody, help them right, and not agreeing with them when they are wrong.

I don't question everything I read nor do I question everything you state but I do question some statements

I don't have a tech manual for a IHC 284. Do you have a tech manual or access to the answer of your question?? What would be the highest tank port pressure that wouldn't require a PBY??

If the previous spool valve operated correctly for yrs then why does a new similar valve need to be attached with a PBY especially with the low output hyd pump that the 284 has?

Do you think you've never make an incorrect statement?

Thank you,Jim

I have asked the Prince hyd engineers to search when PB originated and the tank pressures on older valves.

If you have manuals and books for that time frame, they should tell you something.

Apparently something was happening to the tank side of valves as the PB design was developed to safely add valves downstream.

Statement from Eaton.

Know the capabilities of the system.
Each component in the system has a
maximum rated speed, torque or
pressure. Loading the system beyond
the specifications simply increases
the possibility of failure.

Today, I went back out and tried again.. after reading your replies.. I believe I do understand how you guys are trying to tell me to do it. Except for the 3rd hose ? Is that my problem ? Well I took more pictures of how I did it again, after doing it again, it neither the loader or 3pt works. I also took a pic of my old valve.

Me holding the PB hex plug up to the "C" port where I installed it.

Heres the output hose hooked up to the "C" port after the hex plug installed. Input hose is going in the left side of the valve, Output hose is hooked to the "C" port and going back down to the 3pt control valve. Just 2 hoses.. no 3rd hose.

Heres my old valve that I replaced.. It worked fine, except that the bucket was dropping slowly, and I thought the pressure was bleeding though the valve. I tried putting in new o-rings with no luck. 3pt worked fine and the loader operated fine. It only had 2 hoses.. one "in" and one "out". I do see a port plugged off labled "PB"

Why can't I open your pictures? I am trying to install a two lever spool valve on my Mahindra 5145 and I think this thread will be very helpful if....

What valve are you using? Is this intended for a loader (not that it really matters)? Typically when adding valves in an open center system it's done in power beyond configuration. Granted, many are NOT done that way and they get by. It's just not the best option in my opinion. Without power beyond some strange things can happen, plus leaks on the valve spools can occur sooner or later. Most valves sold today have that option and can be ordered with the proper fitting from most suppliers.

Like Harry says, the easiest and by far the best way to add functions like a loader and a 3pt is to feed pressure to a two lever loader spool valve that has a "power beyond" or "PB" port. If that port is not used, the PBT port will just have an internal slip-fit "block off" sleeve and then the port is just capped off.

To use the port to flow fluid to other systems - like back to the 3pt - you need to be sure you order the two lever spool valve that has a PB port in the first place, and also at the same time order the optional PB enabling sleeve....the sleeve is usually about $20 and specifically made for each type spool valve.
Take a look at the hydraulic components on surpluscenter.com

I am using a PRINCE 'MB' MODEL MB21BB5C1. It came with the Flail Mower that I am trying to put on my tractor.

Yes, Sir, that is it. I think I have it all figured out except I have not located a place to connect the return line on the tractor transmission/rear differential housing.
I sure hope I am not intruding on this original post.

That's often a concern on small tractors. Seems the engineers don't always think far enough down the road to make it easy. Sometimes one must get creative.
