I realize it's a ball of worms in a pot of spaghetti, but I'm trying to find a truck online and be sure it's got my minimum requirements before I drive all over creation. I'm looking to compare specific things and dealing with some salespeople it's always "I'll have to look it up and get back to you" and they never do.
Does anyone have a good digital link?

It is confusing if you're not a "fanboy" and into the gadgets.
I'd start research by
GVW
Cab/bed requirements
Gas/diesel (if applicable)
Interior trim level
Those 4 base items should put your in the "ballpark". From there there's a chit ton of "packages" that group popular features together and can be cheaper than say just adding a/c.
Many of these "packages" are the latest stylish trends like everything that used to be chrome is either color matched or blacked out with a silly sticker on the bed somewhere.
I remember black wheels meant you couldn't afford hub caps!😆
Good luck and be patient.

That's a good explanation of trim levels, but does not give any details about packages.
For example not all tow packages include a 7 pin.
For example What's the difference between a 300A and a 600A?

I think that's for the trucks equipped with an 120v inverter.

AI Overview

Equipment group numbers on Ford vehicles, particularly Super Duty trucks, generally represent different trim levels and associated option packages
.
  • 300a is primarily associated with the XLT trim level on Ford vehicles, including the Super Duty lineup. This means when you see a vehicle with the 300a equipment group, it indicates it's an XLT model with a set of features that are standard or typical for that trim level.
  • 600a seems to be related to specific configurations within a Super Duty model, like the XL F-250® (600A) Equipment Group, which is listed as an option group for the XL trim level. It would include specific components and systems like a particular engine, productivity screen, and safety features.
In summary:
  • 300a represents the XLT trim level and its included features.
  • 600a represents a specific equipment group available on some Super Duty models, potentially indicating a specific engine or other bundled options.

Often you can see the window sticker on line. It will still list those option packages by a number but then it will list what is part of the package which helps.

I’m strictly speaking Ford here but as a rule their tow packages include a 7 pin and 4 pin setup. I think on a F150 it is theoretically possible just to get a hitch without a 7 pin I think it’s pretty uncommon.

Are you buying used or new? They change content almost every year making comparisons difficult. I wasted near a year looking for what I wanted used and gave up. I was planning on ordering a 2025 and discovered by accident that a F350 supercab with 8'box would no longer be available in Lariat trim. I got lucky and found there were three 2024 models available in western Canada and I chose one that only had about $3000.00 in options I didn't want.

I rarely buy trucks by looking at papers or on line brochures. Actually going to the dealer or seller and driving the truck is the way to buy.
More than a few times, I have picked the truck that was “inferior” on paper because I liked the way it handled or rode better than the truck that was superior on paper.

Sometimes the on line build tool has details on the features and what trim levels or packages they are available in.
