2011 Branson A1500N2 (TYM/Kukje/Cummins equivalents . . .) Idle Speed

This might be a dumb question but does anyone know what the factory setting for Idle Speed is for these engines? I just replaced the Injector Pump on mine with a new unit from TYM and it idles out of the box at about 1000 rpm. That's probably pretty close (and I've read other brands recommended Idle Speed can be 1000 - 1200 rpm's) and it seems to be running fine; but if memory serves the tractor idled at a lower rpm when I bought it new. So far I've been unable to find any references to the proper speed. Thanks.

1000 RPM is about right.

If you feel it vibrates too much at idle, increase it some. Usually quiets them down.

Gotta admit that at 1000 rpm's it seems to run well. A puff of black smoke and an occasional wisp of white when first starting, but once warmed up I don't see either. Top end I could get it to 2700 rpm (though Owner's Manual advises 2600 max. Again, nothing on Idle Speed in there.) I know some black smoke in a diesel is normal. Do you think I should chase the white (among other things I've read white might indicate a timing issue)? I timed the pump to the engine (TDC on #1 Cyl per the install instructions.) Do you think it worthwhile to advance the pump or just let it go? I got at least 495 psi in each of the 3 cylinders when checking compression; all 3 are within 5 psi of each other and the engine has just under 1900 hrs. Thanks for your reply, ptsg.

If the puff of white smoke only on start up, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does it while running and under load, then it may need an adjustment.
