The snow blower I have, a Frontier (Deere) brand, has 2 shear pins. As long as you use the proper grade shear pins, I don't see any good reason to add a slip clutch.

At minimum, a 30+ HP ZTR (preferably a diesel) with a good suspension or air-ride seat. The Deere 997 (37 HP, IIRC) would be my choice. Downside, a ZTR is, for the most part, a one task machine...also, rather expensive. Here's another alternative...

I've just got the standard lights that come on a Deere Gator. Mine is a diesel that tops out about 30 MPH. Although I've driven it on our cul-de-sac, I wouldn't take it on the main roads.

What brand and width? If I go for one, I'll want 72 (±2") width...also, the hydraulic chute rotation. Deflector rotation would be nice, but I don't have it on my current Frontier conventional blower and rarely adjust the deflector.

Yes she is, thank you... I'm the one bruised all to hell now...still hurts to move (like getting in and out of the truck) but there's no black and blue on the skin (my abdomen and right side)...if it's not improved in another day or two, a visit to the doctor might be in order

I prefer open station tractors, but since moving to Vermont and it's cold snowy winters, I've gone the cab route. I'm 72, so cold weather hits me harder...plus the occasional, inevitable times the blown snow covers me (never fails!), a cab is mighty handy.

I wonder if your operating system is the problem...but good luck
