Head gasket sealer on John Deere 750

Some bad news ! I got a new torque wrench that was defective resulting in the over tightening of this bolt that cracked the block. This is the end of the road for this machine. No more money can go into it. The bolt will hold the 94 pounds of torque required. See photo... Is there any hope?

Head gasket sealer on John Deere 750

I have a proper straight edge and have checked both block and head for flatness. There is nothing in the manual about replacing the bolts but I think that might be a good idea. I'm certainly missing something. I'm also going to check and make sure the bolts are not bottoming out.

    Cooling Issue

In this torque sequence, the Auxiliary bolts are only torqued to 22 ft-lb. This seems like a very loose specification. I would think at least 40 ft-lb. These are the smaller bolt numbered 5,6 and 7. When I was removing the head they came off with extremely little effort. They were tightened...

Thank you for your input. There is no glaze on any of the sleeves. I'm grateful for that. Two sets of rings seem fine. The middle piston got messed up. I would like to test compression on all three cylinders before putting the oil pan back on. Please give me any other advice you think of. Is...

    Cooling Issue

Thank you for the input. The head is at an excellent machine shop being checked for geometry and cracks. I am considering getting two of these straight edges in the link below as you suggest. I would like to check the block which is still in the tractor. The head is off at the shop. I...

No, just oil. Also no oil in the antifreeze.

    Cooling Issue

Yes, the odd part is a cap that goes over the valve spring. From what I can tell, the compression gasses were going into the coolant filling the cooling system with air. The overheating idiot light came on and I shut it off immediately. My guess is that the temp sensor was measuring air and...

    Cooling Issue

Things progressed. Now I have bubbles coming into the cooling overflow reservoir and the motor will not start. Would the next step be to pull the head and check the head gasket?

    Cooling Issue

Yes, it has a thermostat. I took it out when the behavior started and it was open. I am wondering if there was air in the radiator. I read about a condition called an "air lock." That post said to run the motor with the radiator cap off. I did that and saw lots of bubbles that gradually...

On my John Deere 750 Tractor the oil pump housing broke and the engine failed. We currently have the engine apart and it is sitting at a machine shop. All four main bearings spun. The rod journals on the crankshaft look fine. The Rear bearing was the worst effected but we now have a good...
