    I think if you can't figure out if you need the bigger tractor or not you should probably get the bigger one. Better to have too much tractor and not need it than to find you need a bigger tractor and not have it.

    Straw over grass seed

    I just reseeded my front lawn. Rabbits ate it down to nothing and dug up the roots. I roughed up the soil spread seed and covered with topper, sort of a peat and compost mixture with fertilizer. The peat helps keep the seeds wet in the heat of the day. Home Depot carries topper.

    My 52 hp MX5200 regens more often when run at low rpms. When I work it hard it regens less frequently and honestly if I'm mowing (high rpms) I don't always notice it. Like your son at first I thought it was a big deal...now not so much.
