My Terex had a cable operating pull lever that locked one rear wheel. Not much... The MX has a brake pedal lock. It is a manual cog and catch type that works pretty good but it's easy to forget so I added a flashing warning light in the dash and one near the step to get on the tractor.

I keep the Kubota in the barn when not in use. I kept the previous tractor outdoors for 15 yrs and it suffered Sun damage to all rubber, plastic, and vinyl parts. Basically everything from hoses to switches deteriorated.

Pat's easy hitch extended my lower arms 4 inches. They may not be as good as the euro hooks but they were cheap and easy, good enough for me. I made a simple extension for the top link and added an easy hitch PTO connection. It all works great for me.

I bought a rental tractor. It was 5 yrs old. Had 1050 hrs on it and looked like it had been in a demolition derby, dents and scrapes all over it. I ran it for 14 yrs replacing only the starter and fuel transfer pump. Rebuilt one cylinder. It was a good buy.

Good advice. Buy, use, and resell a 50hp backhoe like Case, Ford, JD for building. Then upgrade the tractor for daily use. ...uhm, paragraphs make reading easier.

I have welded several times on my tractor without disconnecting the battery. I simply grind a bare spot for the ground clamp close to the work area to ensure the path way. My work included some heavy bucket hooks.

I think the solid sides will prevent you from getting under longer limbs. Notice the open bottom units have no sides. When the sides hit the brush pile they will act like a dozer pushing the pile rather than getting under it for a grapple bite. Make a box or a holster for your saw.

3 out my 4 are stick shift. If it's a not rod or a classic without 3 pedals it ain't shift. You can drive an automatic with 1 hand and 1 foot leaving you 50% involved. But a stick takes both hands and both feet leaving completely involved in the driving experience.

Centrifugal pumps make pretty good pressure. I don't need to spray far. We will see... Lots of people including firefighters report using trash pumps on so called grass fire rigs.

In my experience it recovers slower than cutting with a blade... which can be a good thing if you are simply mowing to reduce the fire fuel.

We have twisty hilly country roads. The speed limit is 50-60 mph and many exceed that by 10 mph. A sign says share the road with a stick figure bicyclist. The cyclists look suicidal to me. Sure it's a beautiful place to ride but it is far from safe.

We use a water truck. Add moisture to the material and wheel roll with a full truck. The road maintenance eternal problem is the smoother you make it the faster your neighbors will drive and the fast the washboard will return :rolleyes:

You can drive in gravel. Crushed rock with sharp edges like 3/4" rock is better than rounded pea gravel. Pneumatic tires with minimal air pressure are required. The right tires make a big difference. Drive in reverse for uphill travel. I do this with my machine constantly

Some of the replies sound kinda harsh. If construction is kept to a minimum weight wise I don't see why this cannot be made to work within limits. HF has some cheap 12v winches that can lift a ton or more. That should pull the bed up using a gin pole. If you have welding skills consider removing...

To be clear, a 2 ft tall rock is going to damage or tip your tractor over. These need to be located and marked with a stake or something before you try anything. Backing in a little at a time may be one approach. In any case there is going to be some handwork required to make this a mowable...

Similar problems here. We modified an old BH, cut the blades down and added hardened 3/8 chain. It's been working like a charm. While I try to avoid the rocks, hitting them does not hurt the chains like it did the sharpened blades.

I would go metal. Aluminum specifically. I used a sheet of 6060 aluminum 49x60 inches on my MX5200. I think a metal roof would be best in an environment where something could fall on it. We added a little support to the ROPS and put a couple of bends in the aluminum sheet

I'm a sissy too when it comes to side tilt. Yesterday I felt I pushed the limit and was honestly a bit ashamed I would have taken the risk considering the consequence.

You can definitely not use it, but as already stated, the mower will follow the contour better if you use it.

To be honest my BH is the best tilt meter I've ever used. It works great, if it gets tight I slow down...if it get real tight I stop. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

The Perkins 3 cylinder is a great motor.

My first tractor was a MF 30b. It was a great little 2wd tractor with a Perkins 3 cylinder 50 hp. I ran it for 5 yrs and sold it for $1k less than I bought it for when I moved up to 4wd.

It's just me but I would never run a gas tractor. Diesel power is stronger and more efficient. And less maintenance in my experience. I wouldn't look twice
