    In trouble....AGAIN !!

I suspect most fathers have had similar experiences. I was raised in a family of boys, and my language was a bit colorful, even after I got married. Our first was a girl, and I noticed her picking up some of it when she was first learning to talk. We were at my Mother and Father in-law's...

Things that happen in your small town that you wonder if it happens everywhere?

In our small town, all though the streets were named, I don't recall any of the houses having numbers. We got our mail at a P.O. box in town, as did everyone else I knew, except maybe some of the very rural farm houses. Footnote: Everyone knew where my grade school teacher lived; she died in...

I'm with you. I never could watch it all the way through. All of the rave reviews must have been an insider joke, because I couldn't see it. Haven't seen Hollywood Boulevard, but did watch Sunset Boulevard. Great movie.

Good movies,,, well there are a few.......

I recall one sleepless night a few years back, watching "Silent Movie Theater" and a movie entitled "The Cameraman" with Buster Keaton. Being silent, you have to concentrate (which I was able to do late at night by myself) and It turned out to be a hilarious movie. Made in 1928...

Things that happen in your small town that you wonder if it happens everywhere?

The town I grew up in, in NW Oklahoma, had a population of less than 300. Everyone knows everybody else, including the postmaster. A few years back, I wrote a letter to my elderly grade school teacher. Not knowing her address, I just addressed it to her in care of the town. She of course got...

I'm wondering if that isn't maybe from a motorcycle? Seems to me auto tires were taller and skinnier in the spoke wheel days. In any case, if it's an automobile tire, my guess would be 1920's.

Good movies,,, well there are a few.......

Watched Top Gun-Maverick last night. It was no "Gone With the Wind", but it was worth watching all the way through. I did nod off for about 10 minutes just as the action started, but rewound it enough to see what I missed. I had a little difficulty making the connection all of the characters...

    Worst Christmas gifts

I'll tell this story, but in a way it's not the worst Christmas gift I ever got, if you consider that it was from my cousin, who was not only desperately poor at the time, but one of the most gracious, likeable, caring and beautiful human beings that ever lived (RIP). It was Christmas about...

Anyone watch "Yellowstone" on the Paramount network?

You are so right. It's been forever since I've seen a good comedy skit or a good series. I think "Last Man Standing" and "Blacklist" were the last of the Mohicians. The media is too "woke" and too politically correct to do anything funny or interesting. TV was better in the 1950's than it is...

Hole in the Wall Buffet's and Restaurants

Not exactly a hole in the wall, but the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo has great steaks and the BEST CALF FRIES in a tri-state area. We always eat there when we are in the neighborhood; and you can always try your hand...or stomach...as the case may be, on the 72 ounce steak...free if you...

The consensus was that it had taken on moisture, formed H2 gas, and blown the jar apart...

New House Build (What I would do different after a year of living in it)

We built our house in 1972, and are basically happy with it, although I wish it were bigger and had an upstairs walk in attic. One thing I did later (our garage is a nice 2 car garage) was to build a floor-to-ceiling cedar lined closet on the far side of the garage, with some storage shelves...

Pros and Cons of allowing Cell Tower on Property?

I think the advice to contact a KNOWLEDGEABLE lawyer is right on. Look closely at the easement; make it as specific as possible. My admonition works in the South, also. I bought a BBQ sandwich in Paduca KY, and a little hole in the wall cafe; my guess is they had some old left over roast that was getting blinky, and they doctored it up with BBQ sauce. That was my second experience; no one had to tell me there was a...
