What is the dumbest thing you have done with your equipment ?

Or replacing a fusible link with heavier gauge wire and not trouble shooting why it blew in the first place. It fried the entire lower harness on my L2850. had to get a custom built harness.$$$

    New Pioneer 520 Arrived

Not saying hard coated poly is better than glass but I'm going on 6 pretty hard years on it and still very usable and it's half the price of glass.thpugh I will say definitively hard coated poly is way better than plexiglass or any other acrylic sheet.

    New Pioneer 520 Arrived

I'm going on 6yrs on my hardcoated pioneer windshield still very usable and it's constantly driven around low hanging branches. I don't know the name of it off hand but I use a acrylic/ poly carbonate cleaner made by rain x and microfiber cloth or sometimes I'll just rinse it off with water.

    New Pioneer 520 Arrived

Whether you go with a half or full windshield depends on the environment you ride in and what conditions you tolerate imo a half windshield is pretty much a small windbreak, a full windshield stops rain and snow, a full windshield scratched badly where your line of sight is can be bothersome and...

I need some input on roll around tool boxes

Here's my 5 +yr old Milwaukee 46" tool chest I installed one hf side box and a small craftsman side box. I wish they would have offered the current 56" Milwaukee box probably could have eliminated the side boxes. What sold me on this model was the heavier gauge steel used compared to...

How often should you grease a tractor for light duty?

That's amazing for a loader over 50 yrs old. I worked with a guy that had a old hough he named it "Huffer Doo" he claimed it could take a good beating was pretty neglected and 50+ yrs later still run and do work🤣.

How often should you grease a tractor for light duty?

My Dewalt is variable speed, with a claimed 10k PSI I think I may use a little more grease with it because it has the pressure to actually open up clogged passages and grease zerks that a manually powered gun cant. imho.

Your post got me intrigued So Tonight had a few extra mins so I tested my DeWalt 20volt grease gun with my old trusty Lincoln pistol grip gun it appears to dispense the same amount with one cycle on the DeWalt and one trigger squeeze of the Lincoln. DeWalt is gray molly Lincoln is blue lithium.

I guess it kind of depends on what kind of grinding he's experiencing to help pinpoint the problem. Had similar problem in my l2850 5+ yrs ago most of the bevel gear teeth were sheared off and the rest were worn down to little nubs. Hardest part of the repair for me was finding a new bevel gear, pretty straight forward repair if you own decent snap ring pliers.

Should I use conventional oil, or synthetic oil in my tractor.

Syn, con, or blend I try to make sure it's ck4 api rated I believe the ck rating supercedes all other ratings and can be used on all previous generations of diesel engines with or without pollution controls and ultra low sulphur diesel. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Should I use conventional oil, or synthetic oil in my tractor.

Imo full synthetic seems to leak through gaskets and seals a bit more than conventional on my old tractors also seems to contribute to a bit more blowback, so I use a synthetic blend mostly 10w30 diesel rated, never had any issues on my Kubotas.

Well that sounds slightly confusing. I figure after 40 years gm hopefully has this figured out, 100k miles never a problem with 4x4 I shift it and it's in 4wd, what a great concept! push buttons are great for a VCR not a truck driveline imo.

I have owned my last 2 wheel drive pickup

Well that makes no sense even if you couldn't have the snow pushed over the side like on a overpass. I'd just slow down and straighten both blades till I got over it. In the UP anyway once in a while you might run across a "camp beater" oversized rear tires, tire chains, 2wd, with a plow, about a pallet of CMU and any other junk one can find in the bed. So It must work good enough plowing a two track. These trucks never leave the woods.

I have owned my last 2 wheel drive pickup

I've noticed that a 4wd is more maneuverable In softer ground and snow/ice with one tire in the front spinning you can usually pull out of a rut or soft ground where a locked rear will sometimes only push you forward or reverse until you lose traction or get hung up. The only folks ive heard...

from observations and experience a RWD Tacoma prerunner with a push button rear locker cant go anywhere close to where a tacoma with 4wd without a manual locker can. also The used 2wd prerunnners sell for a lot less on the used market compared to a 4wd in markets around here.

What I was trying to say using a implement on the three point only adds to the importance of 4wd in my case and doesn't add anything to traction when I'm using it. Maybe Instead of engaging 4wd when you need it leave it in 4wd all the time it might help with your rut problems.
