Excellent idea, will do that. I had decided to change out the fluid. Removed cap, and removed hydraulic filter first. Should more than a quart drain out?

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

The PTO engagement valve is lever operated. Seems to be a rotary valve. I'm looking at it now. I fully engaged the lever, then disconnected the arm that connects to it. So when lever is fully engaged, the valve is open as far as it can. And when disengaged, the valve is closed as far as it can...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Odd question. If I take the oil filter off first with the fill cap off, shouldn't more than a quart of fluid drain?

Your correct. No backhoe on the 2600

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Thanks for clarifying how the gears work and for the questions and suggestions. Ran the tractor for about 2-3hours. Borrowed a friend's zero turn, almost 2 weeks with tractor down, grass was tall. 1 ¹/2 acres. Mowed into rows raked into piles. Put forks on tractor and ratchet strapped a tarp...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

With FEL down bucket curled, 3 pt lowered, engine running, glass is middle. Turn engine off, oil drops to below glass. I released any pressure on FEL and 3pt, always do when getting off. Then topped off the oil to middle. Took about 20-25 oz or so. Start it up and then oil went above 3/4th...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

It only foams when the PTOs are engaged. I'm not for sure how the PTO gears work inside the transmission. Are the PTO gears under pressure? But the steel line #11 that connects to the PTO engage lever constantly whines. Almost screams. Whether engaged or not. The line isn't kinked. Could it...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Hooked tiller up. Raising it with lift and driving with the load caused to oil foam. Was clear. Engaging the PTO for 15 seconds, then disengaging caused total foam in eyeglass. Going to change out the fluid and get a new hydraulic filter.

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Something doesnt seem right. It's never done this before. Tractor is at idle. It's setting level with FEL and 3pt down. Hydro level is at middle. Turn off engine and level drops below glass. I have released any residual on both. I actually disconnected all of the FEL quick connects. When I...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Haven't thought of that. Your both right as it could isolate the issue. Haven't had the tiller on this year. Honestly the whining sound always made me anxious when I ran the tiller. I will hook it up and give it a spin.

Yes, belly mower using mid mount PTO. 2 hose clamps on the suction line. I had to use a ratchet myself to tighten them up. Is it possible for the hydraulic filter itself to be faulty?

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Good call on adding some die. Definitely going to get some. I did test with deck. Still foam. My most recent post explains the fluid level. It's at middle with FEL and 3pt down. I shut it off. Then the fluid in the glass drops below the sight. I've never seen this happen before. I've never...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Oil level went back to middle after starting it and curling the bucket. Both FEL and 3 pt were down. Oil was clear driving, using FEL, and 3 pt lift. I put the deck on to cycle it. Engaged PTO for about 15 seconds. Checked fluid. All cloudy with heavy foaming layer at top. Engaged another 15...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

OK. I drained the foamy oil. Emptied out filter. Put back in the oil that was previously in it. Let it warm up a but before cycling. Then cycled the FEL and 3pt lift. No foam in eyeglass while it's idling. Should I put the deck back on to cycle the PTO? Doing it without a load seems not good...

You are right about the chasing noises. Would be glad for just the whine and no foam at this point.

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Good morning all, I'm thinking the best course of action is to retrace or redo what caused the hydraulic fluid foaming. It wasn't foaming before I changed the filter. New one is AGCO filter 4265229M92 Made in Japan. That shouldnt be the issue. The O-rings on the suction filter are properly...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Hope it's not the PTO clutch. That is above my pay grade. I did some "pseudo-mowing" as you calles it. Moved some bucket loads of compost to the garden, mower raised, and PTO not engaged. Still whines, but did not foam.

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Never had any foaming issues prior. 1st time I've ever seen foaming was after the noise went away then came back. Only foams when using the mower. I've taken the deck off checked for any leaks. Slightly tightened the suction filter and hydro filter. There was one drop of fresh oil on the hydro...

GC2600 whining gone, then came back

Long story short. Tractor 650 hours. I bought with 400 hours. Maintained, scheduled maintenance since I owned it, garage kept, only repairs: new starter, two hydro lines on FEL. My tractor has a constant whine. I determined it resonates from the steel hydro line that connects from the...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Your right. The plastic ones can break easily if over-torqued. Broke it shortly after getting the tractor. That's been about 4 years ago. Very careful with new one and O-ring alignment. On recent filter/fluid change O-rings looked OK. Not smashed. How often to change those? I've read that the...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Like 3 to 5 minutes on the first start of the day. Rest of the day when starting, I let the tractor build some pressure for a minute before raising FEL and deck. I always relieve all pressure from FEL and deck when powering down. Usual routine: First time starting tractor for the day, I check...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Update after checking things over. No leaks found. Went out to mow and after taking a couple of passes checked the hydro level to see it as described about. Cloudy and foamy. And after 2 minutes setting at idle at about 1000 rpm the air settled out and fluid was clear in eyeglass. If never seen...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

I have witnessed a potential clue to what's causing my excessive hydro whine. But not really sure why it happening. Today, when my daughter started mowing, I spend a few minutes walking behind the her listening to any noise changes. (She hates it, lol. Doesn't like someone standing over her...

That could be very possible too. The Viscosity Index of the hydro oil is 145.

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

I was trying to determine if I was missing something and if anyone had cleaned the "line screen" or replaced the PTO clutch engage lever valve which is where my whining noise is coming from.

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

I had actually read your post a couple of times previously. It was one of the only mentions I found about the "line filter" after discovering it in the parts book. So that's the PTO relief valve. The parts book called them spring, ball, and body. I'm really not feeling up to cleaning that tiny...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Thanks for that advice. Thanks for the advice. After some research, just on the hydraulic filter I found that there are a few variations that cross-referenced to the OEM filter, but the number of inlet holes varied. 8, 5, or 6. They could very well be the same specs though. 6 is the AGCO OEM...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Here's a bit more info on this line filter. From what I've found, nearly all GC series tractors have this filter and many other MF tractors. I searched the internet for any thread or mention of anyone replacing it. There are dozens of listings selling this part. 3757286M1 then was superceded to...

GC 2600 Has anyone replaced the control valve line filter?

Hi, long time reader, first time poster. I have a GC2600, bought used with about 400 hours on it. A great machine. Now has 650 hours. I have developed a constant whining sound that has gotten louder over time. Makes me anxious. I pinpointed the sound is coming from the solid steel hydraulic...
