    It's an L2501.
  5. H

    Tar River?

Not my tractor. But their tractor is a Kubota L2301. I have only spent very little time using it. Do you think it could handle a 5' tiller?
  6. H

    Tar River?

Oh, yeah Yeah, I dug a bit deeper and there are some unhappy people out there from their experiences with Tar River. Thanks for the heads up!
  7. H

    Tar River?

Did a little more digging on this tiller. They look pretty nice and it sounds like they are distributed from a reputable company with a good warranty.

    Tar River?

Is that the guy who imports these? Not sure who that is. They are a pretty good looking tiller, but I have not done much tiller shopping.

I have a friend in the market for a tiller. She ahs hit on this Tar River tiller for $1575 for 48"er. Certainly it is a rebranded Chinese manufactured tiller. Anyone know anything about this brand...

Mouth Taping, Anyone Else Doing It?

I don't really snore (unless I'm pretty drunk) and I have no issues sleeping. SO thankfully I will not be having to tape my mouth shut. But for those of you that have issues I could see how this would be a wonderful thing.

Mouth Taping, Anyone Else Doing It?

This is really a thing? Never heard of such. I feel like that would take a little getting used to, falling asleep with your mouth taped shut.

    Ash Trees Dying

I reported my issue to the USDA (they have an EAB hotline) evidently the ash borer was first discovered in my area in 2018. They were basically like " Yeah, sorry we know. Nothing we can do about it" But I like to report these kinds of things if it is going to help the scientific community...

Good to know!! Sounds like a plan!! I will probably take the ones down along my driveway, as I have already been screwed by one or 2 other them falling across it.

    Stuck in the pond

Happens the to best of us!! I had only used my tractor 10 hours when I took it on one of my steeper woods roads that had a bit of a mess at the bottom, got it down but I didn't get it back out. Had to clear some stumps and fill in some spots with old concrete.

    Ash Trees Dying

I thought it was more of a northern thing until I looked at an impact map online yesterday. They have made it as far south at Atlanta. The western US has not been impacted yet but they have far fewer Ash trees.

Yeah, I am pretty sensitive about transporting firewood. Looks like I will have to be even more so now.

Yeah, I will have plenty of firewood from these trees for a while. I have a couple bigger ones I might try to get to my friends sawmill.

    Ash Trees Dying

I have a handful of ash trees on my property. I noticed over the last couple of weeks they don't look so good. I wonder if I have Emerald Ash Borers killing them off. This has just happened over the last year I'd say. I had a nice sized Ash that is looking a little pitiful and a few smaller...

    Goat Recipes

Smoked a goat hindquarter yesterday. Marinaded it in beer, lime juice and seasonings for a few hours, put it on the pellet grill at 250 for 4.5 hours to bring it up to 155 deg. then rested it for 20 minutes wrapped in foil. The flavor was really nice but it was a little on the tough side, not...

Large Garden Plot from Pasture: Take 2

Gentlemen!! Some EXCELLENT advice in here. THANK YOU! 🙏 Give me a day to digest and I will address your questions and ask more. If it was my garden I would 100% use roundup to get a good start. I think a 1 or 2 bottom plow and disc would work. But she is willing to go the tiller route as well.

Large Garden Plot from Pasture: Take 2

It was a soybean field 5 years ago, been let go since then. My buddy keeps it bushhogged now, but yeah it is random grasses and weeds. I suspected the same thing about the lime, we will wait to hear back from the soil sample so we are not stabbing in the dark.

Large Garden Plot from Pasture: Take 2

So I started a thread with a similar title a couple of months ago and in true TBN fashion it went sideways and the negative Nancys started telling me how stupid I was for doing a garden and hour away. I got so fed up with reading this I just gave up on the post. I guess it is partly my fault...

I actually got 2 goats from him, one was a good sized goat, I processed that one into different cuts. The smaller one I skinned and left it whole. I want to roast/smoke it later this winter, whole. I kind of want to do it in a more traditional way, like how they bury them. I need to do a...

What have you done to your Branson today?

The only way they adjust is by opening and closing them with the hydraulic cylinder. Your stall mat idea isn't a bad one. Worth considering.
  35. H

What have you done to your Branson today?

I think so, especially if the base of it is a bunch numerous smaller steams. The jaws close down tight, so it would be a matter of finding the right touch to close it enough without breaking the stems. Do you have a 3rd function setup for your loader? That is the only other requirement.
  36. H

What have you done to your Branson today?

I haven't fully gotten the hang of it yet, but from what I watched on Youtube it's a combo of tractor moving backwards or forwards and loader lift, maybe a bit of curl in there. I was pleased with its performance with the 3 trees I pulled trying it out. I think once the ground gets a bit more...

Well the tree puller works!! This decent sized Mimosa came out pretty easily, even as dry as our ground is. Need to get the hang of lining the trunk up with the jaw opening, but that will come. I am thinking about making a mark at the centerline of the jaws to help with that.

    Ohhhhhh!! Good idea!!
  56. H

To grease or not to grease, that is the question!

Yeah, they are lightly greased at the moment, so I will probably roll with that for now. It is not like I will be digging with this thing, and they are very easy to service. So I will reassess in a couple of months.

To grease or not to grease, that is the question!

I just got a used tree puller and there are no grease fittings on it. The 2 pivots for the hydraulic cylinder are kind of open and I could see lots of dust and dirt getting in there. The larger pivot for the jaw is a bit more closed and protected. My question is should I still grease the 3...

This post and my response are kind of ironic. We do not have a lot of agriculture here in our part of the Tennessee Valley, too hilly. To see much agriculture you need to drive west about an hour. Yesterday I drove over there to pick up my tree puller and I saw LOTS of agriculture happening...

Next question, this is for you hydraulic experts. Could you retrofit a hydraulic motor on one of these to run off your front 3rd function hydraulics? What size/torque motor would this take? Then you could indeed run it vertical to mow the brush on the edge of the road.

Are people lazy, don’t know how to help or scared of liability.

What is the point you are trying to make? There are a small percentage of selfish people in every profession, every walk of life. There are a small percentage of sick people in every profession, every walk of life. Just not sure what the actual point you are trying to make is.

Clear as mud. You haven't made a cohesive statement about this topic yet. Your first comment on the subject was cryptic and then you "clarified" with an equally vague comment. Not looking for an argument at all, just looking to gauge the level of ignorance of your statement. I guess it will...

Pouring steps down to the creek/swimming hole...nope, never done it before!

BRAVO!! Great job, looks amazing. A little rip rap on either side of the stairs and it will blend right in. My vote is these stairs are going to outlast most of us here.

What is it with Harley riders?

I have a neighbor that had a Harley (luckily the Harley is gone, not sure why). This dude would rev that thing like it was his job. He has small kids, numerous neighbors have small kids, elderly neighbors, etc. He would still rev it every time he got on it. SO freaking annoying!! I mean I do...

Can you live without a TV ?

We have a few streaming services; HBO Max, Disney+( I have an 11 yo), Hulu, Netflix. All shared with family members of course to keep the price down. We can get all the entertainment we need from that without commercials and network TV/news ********. All watched on an older projector on the wall.

    Spring Brings Chiggers

I HATE CHIGGERS!! It's weird, around here it seems like I most often get them from locations that have a higher rate of human and animal traffic. Our local mtn. biking trail is NOTORIOUS for gifting us with chiggers throughout the summer. But I rarely get them from anywhere else.

New to me Toro 44" Proline Hydro

Is that facetious? It looks a bit beat up to me, but it is pretty solid. The deck has a bit of rust through, but not too bad. Everything seems to work as it is supposed to, that is the most important thing to me. I paid $700 for it, I have been watching Marketplace for a while, that seems...

    Lead Contamination at Shooting Ranges

I like this idea!!! I was planning on making a railroad tie or dirt filled tire backstop. Putting a catch basin underneath doesn't sounds like a bad idea either. The mats too, brilliant. This will be a rifle and pistol range though. Ultimately we might be talking about 1000-1500 rounds...

🤷‍♂️. I'm in TN as well. I got scammed on mine a little bit. It was an ugly POS, but in the end its ugliness saved me $800 on the price. I think the best was is to go to the yard a pick out the one you want, otherwise you get what they have and that could be an ugly POS. The way I saved...

I like the idea of going all in and trapping a couple swarms. I am reading up on trapping swarms as we speak. It does not seem too hard. I have 14 acres with a water source and a nice hill top meadow with trees on the periphery, sounds about ideal for trapping. Might have to make a few traps...

Beautiful hives! Excuse my ignorance but $250 seems like a lot for a couple wooden boxes with Al lids. Is that box more complex than I am seeing? Again, I have little to no knowledge in this realm so that might be a really dumb question. How much is that same set-up store bought?

What to use Carry-All for (other than carry-all)

Yeah, now that I have a UTV my carryall has no chance. I agree a UTV is a far better carryall. Yep, each one of my attachments has the ability to carry a chainsaw, hand tools, rakes and shovels, etc. Why take it off to put on the carry all. Honestly, the only reason I think I would ever...

What to use Carry-All for (other than carry-all)

Yeah, I built something very similar, haven't used it in years. IMHO, too small to carry enough firewood to make it worth putting on. The main reasons I don't use it are: I have to remove a far more useful implement to put it on (box blade, ballast, etc) It is not heavy enough to be adequate...

  190. H

What else do you do with forks besides lift pallets?

Move heavy stuff of all shapes and sizes. I probably could have used my grapple to lift this pipe, but the grapple is a couple hundred pounds heavier. That extra weight out front would have made this a bit more sketchy.

Using a container to store implements

Some good info. here. I have a 40' HC I only paid $1700 for 5 years ago, but they are pretty expensive now. If this is something you are doing to save money, I think you got the wrong idea. If you just need lockable storage NOW, it is good for that.
