Over on the HD Ram forum they say one of the types of 7 wire trailer plugs is incorrect. In the attached picture the correct version is on the right side.

I was there 86 to 88. Won’t say how fast I drove what, but let’s just say too fast. However, one day on the way back to Hanau I was driving a buddy’s car at least 100 mph and got passed by a car and it was going so fast I couldn’t even tell what color it was.

I had 8/3 wire (3 insulated wires & a ground) and I have a Hobart plug adapter to go from a 4 prong (dryer type) plug to a 3 prong plug.

I would look at the wiring for bad spots especially where the wires go into and out of the axle tubes.

I would definitely keep the transmission cooler as you are likely to do a fairly high amount of low speed high load off road work in soft ground that will drive up transmission temperatures.

Those are just examples l’m likely to buy a used trailer. My current 18’ trailer (16’ flat with 2’ dovetail and 7k lbs) is a little small in both length and weight capacity.

Those are just bars to keep the three point lower arm’s from moving up or down to keep the draw bar in a fixed position. We always used them to pull our hay rake. Getting a center draw bar that mounts below the PTO / rear axle eliminates the need for those bars.

I use two chains but four chain binders to make four tie down points and I prefer 5/16” chains.

My father in law had a big DMI subsoiler took +250 HP to pull. It had small wing type protrusions on the replaceable tooth to increase the scattering of the soi hardpan. As your subsoiler pull easy enough adding the wings may help loosen your soil.

Plus the other factor is that the muffler is under the hood.

The TC mufflers are much larger (internal volume) than what is shown in the picture of the 1920 in question.

What cut height are you using and what type blades?

Stick something like 2x4 in on the tight side/end and then push on the other side/end to adjust it.

Now you need two mowers on the rear that are wings for that to get to say 30’ of cutting width. 🤓

It’s the center of the axle shaft that you need to look at.

Unless it’s a one ton or above they are likely to run out of truck payload before 20k and maybe even less. I don’t think I’d want that much unless it was a gooseneck.

I think most gooseneck/fifth wheel trailers can hit the cab/rear window of a truck. The issue is situational awareness to avoid it.

Unless you’re wanting aluminum wheels or yours are in bad shape why not just get them painted or powdered coated.

IIRC those extra two levers are for the mid PTO used for things like a belly mower or snow blowers. They are optional.

On my 97 GMC K3500 SRW I did just that and ran that axle around 7 years with no issues at all. The engine finally gave up.

That mulcher has a 70HP minimum. Not sure there are any 70 HP hydro transmission tractors anymore since IHC went out of business.

With that having .4 MPH and the power shuttle meaning you have a wet/hydraulic clutch, so damaging the clutch shouldn’t be an issue.

Can you go slow enough in reverse to use it? Per tractor data only two of the TN75 four transmission options go less than 1.5 MPH the Synchro Command Plus and dual command.

On the plow vs roots issues. A disc plow cuts through roots where a moldboard plow gets hooked on roots. There are disc plows with two discs. If you had a much bigger tractor an offset disc might work. Anyway is work though.

My TC45DA will do that but it pulls 9.5’ bushhog cutting pasture just fine, so its not a fuel issue. I’d try mowing with in grass that will load it and require max fuel first. Once you do that then you should know how to proceed.

We’re using a mix of 50% vinegar and 50% water in a sprayer and that seems to have almost gotten rid of the carpenter bees. However, you have to spray it at least every two weeks.

I sprayed down into it to clean it too.

I found out today that brake cleaner works to clean spray foam cans before it hardens, so you can reuse the can later.

Would the reflective bubble on the inside surface of the 2.5” steel tube meaning the two layers have 2.5” of dead air space provide more insulation value than the two directly connected?

It’s actually 2.5” tubing on 6’ centers. In SC we don’t have snow loading issues.

No it is part of the International/ Farmall brand. It seems like the IH #10 grain drill is next newer one. I received my operators and parts manuals from Binder Books.

I can see it affecting and the ability to absorb impacts especially at the speed modern farming uses. However, at the speeds I run which are typically sub 6 mph I doubt it is a problem. With our use of hobby farming cannot justify the cost of purchasing weights vs free water.

I put a tape measure on it and it doesn’t seem to be 8’wide. It has 12 drops spaced 7” apart and the discs (single disc) are 81" outside to outside. The seed box is 7'3" wide. Question what width is this McCormick M drill considered?

Could an old drill like this be converted to use a hydraulic cylinder to lift the discs rather than the old mechanical setup?

I got a grain drill, but don’t know what manufacturer or model number. It’s 8‘ wide with 12 drops to single disc openers. The previous owner thought it was a IH number 5, I didn’t find any pictures that match my drill. There is NOT decal inside the grain tanks/bins.

I lifted a 8 foot grain drill off a trailer today and 16 psi squished a bunch, but they held. I will have to raise the psi when doing heavy loader work.

Today I loaded the rear’s with water in SC water is fine. The side walls of these BKT RT 747 tires are much more flexible than the the old Titan bias ply rears. First picture is the Titans with NO air pressure and NO water and the second is the BKT with NO air pressure and NO water.

In the past it was common to have AG air filters washed, but I don’t know if it’s still done.

I would disconnect the wires from the switch and put a jumper in to get it back to your shop and then adjus/replace the switch.

Hold a heavy hammer against one side of the socket where the taper bolt/tie rod goes through and then use another hammer to hit the opposite side. This will break it free if you do not have access to a pickle fork.

I find my original R4 spin on the grass way more often and tear up the grass more than my old tractor's R1s. My new tires are the ones in the above picture that shows a R1 type tread in 17.5LR24 (460/70R24) and will be installed sometime next week...

I’ve owned HM trucks since 1995 and the seats have all been good, but the Colorado rental I had really hard seats that I found uncomfortable.

I had one as a rental for two weeks last summer and I thought the seats were really still and uncomfortable too, which is bad because I like the Colorado/Canyon especially the 2.8L diesel.

I think that pipe running down the center is called a torque tube or something like that. However, I do NOT understand its purpose? I have worked on lots of flatbed semi-trailers, and I have never seen one on them. PS that's a nice trailer!

We have 14 acres and lots of mowing and I would highly recommend more HP. Also, consider a transmission that can be shifted on the move. I went from a IH 424 to a NH TC45 with a hydrostatic drive and mowing is much nicer.

What does your owners manual say for a psi range? My fronts lowest psi is 16 psi. How the outside edge might be slightly off the ground like by a 1/16”. I may try lowering it say by a pound to get full contact.

The larger rear AG R1 14.9-24 is rated at 3000 pounds at 20 psi.

When I looked the actual R14 17.5-24 / 460/70R24 seemed to have a lower load rating than the R4s. That said I didn’t look at what the weight rating was for the factory R1s for my TC45.

I like them they have good side stability when side hilling. I have multiple hillsides with 20 degree slopes that I have cross sideways. They seem to ride good too. I don’t think they will clean/clear themselves of mud like a R1 will.

Remember they move about 1.5 MPH in high gear at full throttle, so that 1/2 mil will chew your rental hours.

If you have to move it any distance load it on a trailer rather use hours moving it.

I got an Alamo SHD96 and had no HP issues running it wi either my IH 424 or my NH TC45DA, but the weight of it was really hard on the 3 point linkage.

No one mentioned that using starting fluid with working glow plugs is a VERY BAD IDEA.

I personally want to use them for fence rails.

My Woods C114-1 has a tool-less means to change the blades and in about 15 minutes I can change all three pairs.

That’s on my to do list. The bigger the tractor the more useful it is.

You can way more than you can haul. Also, getting in the master bed in a slide in is not fun as you age.

I drove a rental Colorado 4x4 for two weeks this summer and it was nice. My only issue was it seemed to ride rough compared to my 2020 Ram 2500, but I don’t know what the tire pressure was. I would like to try a diesel Colorado/Canyon as I have heard they get great MPG.

Sounds like he is getting fuel to the filter, but it’s no restarting which to me could be another issue. To the OP is that what is happening?

I worked on a old self propelled New Holland baler back in the 1980s and ran perfect in the sho, but as soon as it was driven (bouncing/vibrations) in the field it died due to junk in the gas tank. We had the tank cleaned and then it worked great, so that’s something to think about.

I thought the S was for the super steer variants.

While not a GM the ZF 8 speed in my Ram 2500 is smooth and seems to have a good reputation. I let you know in say 10 years if I still think that. I skip all them after the 4L80e until this one.

I don’t use mine super often, but I have at least three 2”x27 ratchet straps from the 1990s that still work. However, I store them inside a toolbox. Had four but one died when it came off a 55 MPH when I dumped some hay before Covid-19 and drove the trailer over it.

Woods C114-1 that has a 9.5’ wide cutting surface. Just don’t let it swing into your radiator which I didn’t.

Alamo How wide is the cutting surface? How May bolts are on the rear roller mount/adjuster?

I have a hydraulic drain line (about 3/8” I-dia) with two hose clamps on the left side below PTO lever. It was dripping until I tightened the clamps, but still leaves a drop or two. I think when I do the next full service I may replace it.
