Replace sediment bowl with inline filter

I just looked at the replacement bowl setups from Ranch Hand Supply and they show two different styles. You can see them here: Jinma Fuel Sediment Bowl Also checked an online parts catalog and they list two different styles, one with a straight thread (metric) using a jam nut and seal and one...

Replace sediment bowl with inline filter

My fuel tank had a 1/4" NPT fitting on the bottom of the tank. The original bowl had a threaded nipple on the top that screwed directly into the tank. The replacement from Ranch Hand (second photo) also had the nipple on the top but I took the opportunity to use a couple of elbows to offset the...

Replace sediment bowl with inline filter

The OEM fuel bowl on my 2006 284 had a plastic bowl that quickly clouded and was difficult to monitor the contents. I bought one with a glass bowl from Ranch Hand Supply. Still crystal clear all these years later. I did discover that the OEM fuel line with the banjo fittings is close enough to...

Desperately trying to find casing for Foton 254

Yup, agreed with the other responses. It is very unusual for the manufacturer to use two different castings for this kind of production. Jinma 284 uh oh clutch problems

It is hard to know what else went wrong without getting a look inside. The access port is a cover on the bell housing just in front of the clutch pedal. If you have the service manual, check to see if there is a chart of standard torque values. These are used for anywhere a specific value is not listed. Jinma 284 Donaldson air cleaner upgrade question.

    Torque specs for flywheel

    Torque specs for flywheel

"Some" bolts are designed to stretch a certain amount as the final torque is set. Usually these are one time use only bolts (or studs in some applications). Very good Danica! Glad you are back to tractoring and done with the fixing. :) I think in this instance the temp gauge could be thought of a "fuel use" gauge. As for oil in coolant or the other way around, a good option is to have a lab test samples of each. They can detect cross contamination as well as exhaust residue or fuel in either fluid. One of the places I worked had it's own in house lab. We sold the sample bottles, two varieties of each...

Speaking of lift pumps, does your tractor have a hand primer pump? This is usually a knob that turns to loosen, then the spring pushes it up. What kinda lubes do you keep in your old oil cans?

When I put this mix in anything but a sealed metal container the acetone always escapes over time so I have never tried it in an oil can. Groundsmaster 52 runs 10 minutes, then dies

Correct. A loop really messes things up if fluid gets in it. In my case the pump is below the engine so it is possible for crankcase fumes (2 stroke) to condense in the line and flow to the pump. The weep hole at the bottom of the pump takes care of that and the fuel tank is below the pump so it...

If the fuel pump is like what Rotax uses on some engines it is a diaphragm with fuel on one side and engine vacuum pulses on the other side. The symptoms you described are the same as I had, although there was no grey muck in mine, just dirt and brush powder. The real culprit was the binding caused by dry bushings. Hydraulic Flow Control Valve Leaking - Jinma/Nortrac 254

Well, that raises some questions. The parts books show the cylinder and the cap being two different parts but the photos from that post show it coming out as one piece. IF the lever was in the down position and the 3pt had lowered itself normally the piston would be at the bottom of the travel. Then if something (or someone) manually picked up the lift...

    99-01 Jinma 254 3 point wont lift

That linkage arm not being connected probably contributed to your situation. It is good to know that you can access the cylinder by removing the front and rear covers. I wasn't sure it would give enough room to work inside. Here is a picture of my adjusting knob and set-screw. 2006 284

    99-01 Jinma 254 3 point wont lift

The knob under the seat does not switch between 3 point and aux, it's sole function is to control the speed at which the 3pt lowers. The 3 point lift cylinder is only a one way cylinder in that there is only pressurized fluid on one side of the piston and it takes an external force (weight on...

    99-01 Jinma 254 3 point wont lift

I doubt that the seal failed at the bottom. This usually happens if the piston extends (raises the arms) too far. The knob on the valve usually has a set or "tension" screw that keeps it in place. If this is too tight then it makes the knob hard to turn. Basically all this valve does is regulate...

    2008 Jinma 454 Wont Move

With the trans in neutral and the clutch engaged (not pushed in) if you turn the engine over, can you observe the shaft at the point where it goes through the throw out bearing to see if it turns with the engine? It would seem that the splines on the driven disk are the weakest point in the...

Jinma 3pt lift shaft (15" not the 14") Having no luck in a new one. Mine is so twisted. Any suggestions??

Wow! That is a story for the books. I wonder if two engineers were working on the separate assemblies at the same time and both managed to get the same "open number" ? I'll bet worse things have happened! We should get a cold drink sometime and swap "war stories from the parts department". Cheers!

Jinma 3pt lift shaft (15" not the 14") Having no luck in a new one. Mine is so twisted. Any suggestions??

Yeah, it looks like only about half the length of the splines were engaged. More force than they could take at half of the rated contact area.

Jinma 3pt lift shaft (15" not the 14") Having no luck in a new one. Mine is so twisted. Any suggestions??

I was in parts at a CAT dealer for a few years and understand the importance of correct machine ID. It was the same for medium duty GM trucks. If you didn't have the line sheets finding the right part was just a guess. VERY difficult to convince customers that no, "they are not all the same"...

Jinma 3pt lift shaft (15" not the 14") Having no luck in a new one. Mine is so twisted. Any suggestions??

Hi Bob, Have you actually seen them use the same number for different sized parts on different model tractors? That would drive the parts people nuts! I remember doing part number updates from GM way back in the 1980's. We always kept all the old numbers on the shelf for an easy reference. One...

Sick of Paying Tractor Part Prices.... Make Your Own....(3D Printed)

I saw some scanners in the $200 to $500 range the other day that looked like they might do a decent job. Even if not the greatest, they would at least get a file generated that had the basics. After that it is just checking and cleaning up the details. You could get some pretty complicated...

Sick of Paying Tractor Part Prices.... Make Your Own....(3D Printed)

I got into this in January with an Ender 3 Pro and some basic filament. Less than $300 delivered. I had a few ideas of what could be done and actually had a request from the wife to make a part that has never been made before and can not be bought. The printer worked out of the box and the only...

Where did you get the new one from? That dealer should be working to get the correct part. Even if that is the part provided to them with the correct part number, it obviously is not correct. This is not to blame the dealer, but it is their responsibility to get you the correct part, even if it...

Top Dressing Driveway - Gravel or Crushed Concrete

Another consideration is your freeze/thaw cycles. If the concrete is wet and freezes the ice will shatter the cement that binds the aggregate. This causes it to all reduce to the mix that made the concrete in the first place, only smaller. I put crushed asphalt on 400' with a good slope 20 years...

    Jinma 204 fuel shutoff

A stuck injector rack is not unheard of. I would suggest draining the IP crankcase oil and refilling with fresh motor oil. The governor and IP are lubed by the same sump and oil changes are often overlooked. Might not fix you problem but certainly won't hurt. Only takes a few ounces of oil...

How to convert 2001 jinma 204 to power steering is it posable?

That would be quite a task, but not impossible if you can get the right parts or be able to make modifications so the parts you do get fit. Jinma has used several different designs of power steering systems over the years. If you don't have a parts manual for your specific tractor, take a look...

Instrument panel in a Janma 254 Tractor

Yes. The amp-meter is in the circuit before the switch which controls everything else. It is likely you could have a blown fuse or a broken wire or a bad key switch. Do you have the owners manual or a wiring schematic? I can help you with some basic troubleshooting to see if you can find the...

Yeah Bob, I do. Not in this picture are switches for the Bat-Grapple, Bat-Smokescreen, and Bat-Ejection seat! Criminals Beware. Meanwhile, back at the Bat-cave, the Bat-guano is getting a little deep! Actually, a few years back the stock switches were wearing out and or so dirty they didn't...

Instrument panel in a Janma 254 Tractor

I forgot there were two brackets that mounted on the studs from the back side. My parts manual does not show it but you can see a photo here: 0304-112 Cluster Gauge | Jinma, Farm Pro and Nortrac Tractors | Circle G You can see the outside clips that I made in this photo. I used a clip-nut on...

Instrument panel in a Janma 254 Tractor

There are 4 studs mounted to the back side of the instrument cluster. It is a real bugger to wiggle your hands with a wrench up behind the fuel tank to get to the nuts. Getting them off is hard, putting it back together is harder. I made clips that hold mine in from the instrument side. Not as...
