    During mud season there is not a lot I can do. The ground is frozen 3 or 4 feet down except the top which become a slurry. So you make ruts and holes. Water has no place to go so it just sits there. But I got some roadside/powerline maintenance done. gg

    Started snowing again late yesterday morning and snowed all night. This second batch was heavier. We ended up with a foot or more at the house. When I got down the long hill to the town road with my plow there was only about 6". My wife took a short video with her phone. gg

    Because we are close, we're in the snow shadow of the presidential range and tend to get lesser amounts with N'oreasters. Still snowing but we have about 8" or 9" so far. You don't have to go far from here to get the snow you saw in the news. gg

    We didn't get what was forecast - hard to say how much. We are on higher ground and it was dryish snow. It blew around a lot. Trees were blown bare and not weighted down. No power outage. We are lucky. Wicked wind has died down now. The open places exposed to the wind had about 5". gg

    Started splitting our 25/26 wood yesterday on nice bare ground but had to quit and put the plow back on the tractor. Forecasts were all over the place, from 4" to over a foot and we are up on higher ground. Didn't want to chance it. gg

    Going from a 7' to an 8' would give you 6" more on each side. That would be a noticeable difference that. But the 8' would also be harder to steer and push your front end around more. Everything is a trade-off. gg

    Your pipe sounds good - What did you use for a pipe hilbilly, and how did you hook it on to your cutting edge. Have you tried just turning your blade 180*. I have done that but the snow doesn't come off the blade as well as I would like because of the pivot hardware in the middle of it.

    Google 'weld on lifting lug' to start. Might have to poke around to find the shape you want with a surface for the grab hook. I cut mine out of a scrap piece of 1/2" plate and used a hole saw. Good point about the 90* side load ! gg
