The dealer is full of BS. 8 hours of run time to "check it out'? That is a full day of operation. Mine arrived new with about 2 hours. The dealer has no reason to dyno a new tractor... The more they mess with it, the more opportunities they have to damage it before sale.

I'll admit, the 494 has a larger frame... The 4820 is much more compact, and only weighs 40 pounds less. The operators weight will vary by more than 40lbs 😃

There are still some DPF tractors, where the DPF isn’t an issue. They are mechanical injection.

Any 4wd that is NON ARTICULATED is considered 2wd. 4wd assist, is still considered 2wd in these stats. So, your Kubota, is in the 2wd sector, as is my TYM/Branson

TYM does. The 3515. It also has mechanical injection, so you alleviate the ECM/DPF woes of all the other brands, which is why many stick to 25hp.

You pay a lot more for a stripped down unit, than you pay for a fully optioned tractor from another brand. My tractor has all the options, they were standard, for about $15k less than a comparable unit. That's 50% more than I paid.

Sounds like you are mentioning DEF and DPF. One reason I chose a mechanical injected tractor, the DPF is an accessory, and not integrated into the operation of the engine. I think most DPF issues are user error however.

Steering isn’t even routed to the implement as stated, two pumps, totally separate.

I’d say no… really all you have is implement flow, of 8.2 max

And at least with mechanical injection, the owner has the option of bypassing the DPF completely if they really desire

I love the linked pedal. If I don’t want to use it, I just set the throttle, which I do when I’m tilling. When I’m not using PTO, I set the throttle at what I want as my min rpm… if I press the pedal far enough, it will increase rpm. When I let off, it settles back in at my min, say 1800rpm...

I’d vote ZTR. My Hustler weighs in at about 1400 pounds and handles steep side hills fine. The homeowner models, the light weight models, won’t. I’d never want to mow my 2 acre lawn with a lawn tractor. I have 6 acres of fields I routinely mow with an atv and 57” trail mower.

The second crop began blooming at three weeks, and now after three weeks of blooming it is setting seed and losing its blossoms. The late season buckwheat grew fast, not as tall, and had a much shorter bloom. It was free, so I guess it’s fine. Really thinking of planting phacelia next April.

Amen. It's dicey when you make such wild demands in an industry where they can just move your job elsewhere. Or automate it. Pretty bold. Some industries have seen massive pay raises... we saw 80% raises last year. Can't be outsourced. Can't be automated. And there aren't enough of us...

The Kukje engines are amazing. Numerous folks with these engines have hundreds of hours and no regen.

This is also an excellent way to bend the cylinders.

I use an 80v blower to blow off the tractor and engine compartment after use. I do this with all of my equipment. I hate dirty equipment, and I also dislike fires due to grass, seeds, chaff collecting in hot areas.

The $1500 for the TYM gets 1000 pounds more capacity on the 3-pt and loader. Congrats on the tractor, and I wish you many years of happy tractoring

I can say, when reselling, a modular does not command the same $$ as a stick built home. Right or wrong, it’s true.

On my tractor there is a physical linkage from the pedal to the throttle… now that may be different on the LS due to mine having mechanical injection and such. My pedal is always linked, always.

My 4820, does not add time for each start. Also, it sits for a couple months at a time and it’s just fine. Engine wear is a real thing at start up due to lack of lubrication, you are doing more harm than good.

Wonder what the cost of 75HP electric is compared to diesel? One selling point for the 25HP electrics, was they weren’t row crop tractors, and you wouldnt be using them for hours each day. Well, the larger the tractor gets, the more likely you will be using it for extended periods…

42 PTO HP, and in virgin ground, my 72" tiller is all it wants to handle. 50% of the battle is the soil type and compaction

Most herbicides work best with corse spray, large droplets and a good surfactant, like MSO. Drift or not, herbicides are a large droplet chemical for best results

Used is the way to go… as long as they aren’t asking nearly new prices. When shopping for my tiller, it made sense to buy new… used were abused and 75% the cost of new.
