    Building a Small Backhoe

It is 96" in total. If I move the rear pivot point in the top arm I could get a lot more. But I'm kind of burned out on building this thing so I'm happy to just use it as is. Here is a project I finished today to run my rain gutter underground. Just need to dress up the yard and cut the drain...

    Building a Small Backhoe

Just a quick update, I've dug approximately 25' of trench approx. 3' deep in very rocky N.H. soil, dug around four 6" diameter maples and pulled the stumps with my truck. The backhoe is sized very well to my tractor. If there was more power in the backhoe I think I would use less finesse and...

    Building a Small Backhoe

Making a hole! I have to reroute some hoses, tighten some fittings etc. But it's stuff I can do as I go.

    Building a Small Backhoe

I put a 30' paint job on it and plumbed the hoses to the cylinders. I'm just waiting on the fittings to go from the valve to the hoses and I should be able to test run it.

    Building a Small Backhoe

I've been building a small backhoe for my tractor that I thought people might be interested in. People have certainly built this backhoe before. But I just wanted to say that the CAD plans that I purchased from P.F. Engineering are amazing. And the gentleman that made the plans who's name is...

Thank you. Here is some recent progress. I'll start building off of the tractor at this point I think.

Starting to build a small backhoe for the tractor. I found a sketch of a 4pt subframe from Woods that I may try to fabricate to hold the backhoe. The plans I am using are from P.F. Engineering

Hello all. I just sold my Satoh Beaver S370D and purchased a Cub Cadet 7264 with the front snowblower and loader for what I hope is a reasonable price. I was wondering if any knew about adding aux. hydraulics to these tractors? I had a grapple bucket for my other tractor and it was my go to...

I got to try out the snowplow blade I cobbled together, It works perfect. It think the blade came off an older Lawn tractor it's very heavily built. I can't believe how easily this tractor pushes large amounts of snow. I will definitely do a couple of modifications in the Spring. Hydraulic...

    Satoh 370D Cold Starting

I just purchased my tractor this past summer and had never owned a tractor before let alone a diesel. I just wanted to share a cold starting tip I just figured out (That everyone I'm sure already knows.) After warming the glow plugs and get the engine to where it wants to start I was leaving my...

Just ordered these forks, I saw a set on a job site in Mass.which led me to 2 conclusions. 1.The quick attach on my tractor is a Dingo or compact bobcat type. 2. Dingo attachments are perfect size for my tractor. These forks have a lifting capacity of 2500#. The set I saw on my job site were...

I was wondering if I could get some help on the front end. I am going through and re-lubing the whole tractor. The front center diff is straight forward. My question lies with the outer 4wd hubs that the king pins must sit in. I'm not sure where to put the oil, is it the plug that's horizontal...

Almost done... When you're in the aisle buying hydraulic hoses 3' sounds like a lot, till you tilt the bucket curl all the way down. It was getting late and I was getting frustrated so I had to put it up for the night. Stripped a hydraulic fitting etc. I was able to raise the grapple...

I am also starting to cobble together a grapple bucket. I am using steel scraps that are lying around. My lack of measuring, marking etc. are readily apparent in the pictures, I'm just winging it as I go. It is square though, I just got lazy and held the spacer tabs turned my head and started...

The loader bar for the top of my bucket curl cylinder finally broke the other day. Th previous owner had bent it, re-straightened a couple of times it looked like. He sleeved it with a piece of pipe but the metal was too fatigued. Here are some pics of the break, and the new one I made with 2...

I took 3 pics of me undoing the disconnect so hopefully you could see how it works. They look like a pin sliced at a 45 degree angle except the bottom section of the pin has a hole drilled in it and the upper section has a pin that penetrates the lower pin and goes thru the lower pin and thru...

Almost forgot to add the latest workload. Cleaning up a pine tree removal. I'll pile it up out of the way and deal with it later. I have 110 lbs of extra rear weight and when i got off of the tractor the right rear tire was off of the ground 6" at least. I cannot believe how much work this thing...

Here is a pic of the gentleman I bought the tractor from with the backhoe on the front. He was finishing up the last of his drainage ditches when I snapped this pic. It has a small quick attach plate system on it to change between the two buckets. The backhoe (front hoe:)) doesn't articulate...

Good advise on the lifting capacity of the loader vs. what the tractor can handle. I don't have any weight in the rear end so I figure if the rear tires come off the ground I shouldn't lift it. That being said I always like to push the envelope a little and I have some old weight lifting plates...

Just purchased my first small tractor, I bought it off of a friend that was done using it. I thought I would post a picture of it's first job after I changed all of the fluids. The first thing I need is some weight in the rear. This tractor will lift anything at idle, I LOVE IT!
