When you shim the bottom you you run the shim past the pin to maintain pin engagement, also helps to reinforce the lower latch area, I prefer it over shimming the top.

You can get expanded steel that would be plenty strong and still fairly light.

The 230 was a little weaker then I'd have liked but still didn't have any problems running 70-80 at 26k+ lbs. My buddy had the same truck with the 260hp and it pulled pretty nice. I think the Allison makes a lot of difference in how they pull.

Agreed, the 444 is pretty much the same as the 7.3 powerstroke with a different HPOP and typically lower hp/higher tq. They are definitely not as strong as the Cummins in med duty applications and I don't think were offered above the 600/650 and IH 4700.

Its only slightly more then 2800, maybe 2900-3000 and that can vary due to how the linkage is set up. The pto rated rpm is just past peak tq on the downward slope of the curve, that way as the load increases and tries to lower the rpm the torque will be rising to help resist the load.

If they sound sick then they probably are, all the straight piped 5.9/6.7 I'm familiar with sound similar to the larger engines, just slightly quieter. The only "V" type diesels I really liked the sound of were the old 2stroke Detroits!

We always use to joke about the 6.0 being more of a "hot rod" tuned engine. If you've never driven the 5.9 common rail in the medium duty like a 650, its a completely different animal then the pickup version, from sound to how they drive.

You'll be fine, I have a Betstco AGL165 which is a 65" at just shy of 800lbs and my L3240 rops with loaded R4's handle it just fine. I can even have it offset and suspended without a problem. I do have the LA724 loader on while using it, but even with the bucket off its still plenty stable.

Most weights on the smaller tractors only use 2 or 4 bolts, I will say it seems like some of the Korean brands use an odd wheel that may not accept standard weights for some tire styles. Most of the Kubota, JD, Kioti etc. I'm more familiar with will typically accept wheel weights.

Pretty much all the scuts use the same wheel which will accept weights, also most cuts I know of will accept wheel weights. The only wheels I have know of off the top of my head that can't accept wheel weights is my rear R3 wheels for my L3240.
