I’d a lot rather hook a load like that behind my Volvo than the F-550. The Volvo has more than double the torque, double the transmission gears, considerably better service brakes more than 3 times the engine braking capacity.

Until the 550 gets at least a ton on the bed it rides like it’s on blocks. The 3500 is a much smoother ride.

The F-550 literally throws cups out of the cup holder. My 3500 rides much nicer and my class 8 Volvo on air ride rides much better.

At least you can put a good load on the F-550 dump bed without a CDL. Dropping to a 350 dually doesn’t change the CDL part much. My 350 dually GVW is 14,000 which puts it solidly over 26k with my 14k trailer. My 1999 350 was 12,500 which is still over 26k with a 14k trailer.

I have a manual tilt and I don’t regret it at all. The electric pumps take forever to tilt the trailer plus if the battery is dead you aren’t going anywhere.

You can buy a tilt bed with a fixed portion at the front that doesn’t move. Mine has 6 feet fixed deck at the front that doesn’t move. My biggest drawback is I can’t load 2 lawnmowers but I can manage pretty well with loading multiple implements.

That grease is made to replace gear oil when the seals are blown out. It was never made for pins.

I’m not seeing it as being that hard. The skid steer has no shortage of pins to grease and they’re every one recessed. If they weren’t they would be broke off the first day. It takes me maybe 5 minutes to grease the machine.

I use a screwdriver to scrap out enough dirt that I can get the nozzle seated in place and call it good. I don’t bother cleaning them to perfection.

With an excavator you pretty much are doing exactly that. I like to grease the bucket pin every 3-4 hours and the rest of the machine every other time I grease the bucket.

The Exxon moly is only about $1 a tube premium over the regular blue grease. I feel like it works enough better to justify that.

Red and tacky sucks. It leeches oil and runs all over the place. This Exxon grease doesn’t do that and cost about the same as red grease. I like those plastic tubes better too. My truck toolboxes leak a little bit and those tubes don’t get ruined from being a little wet.

I like to grease my skid steer and excavator bucket pins every 1/2 tank of fuel and the rest of the pins every tank of fuel. I’m not sure what you’re greasing every 100 hours.

Mine works great. I glued a disc level on the head so can set it some degree of level and the auto level function does the rest. A string level isn’t very accurate at all. A water level works but takes forever.

I switched to this Exxon grease. Even in 90 degrees in full sun the grease stays in the tube without running everywhere like red grease does.

If you can store the grease in the sun there’s almost no issue to start with in my experience. My grease gun has a bleeder screen but I rarely use it. I’ve had the best results to leave the tube loose and ram the plunger rod back and forth while the gun is pumping.

The tracks on mine were dirty before I even had the bucket pinned on. The bucket and blade were scratched up in the first 10 minutes. By 7 hours the bucket paint was gone and the blade had significant use signs. There’s just no way that machine has been used for any time and definitely not 7 hours.

My old D5 that weighs about the same as the 955 would grade vastly better than the 955 could do. That’s the leading reason I sold my 955. Honestly I could do more work with my skid steer than the 955. It was just too slow and clumsy.

A track coming off will definitely make your day worse but I’ve had way more problems with tires coming off the bead than tracks coming off. Remounting a skid steer tire isn’t fun either. Foam filler will fix that that issue but it’s costly and requires downtime.

This is a fairly average skid steer lifting close to 3000 pounds. The larger track machines can lift double that much. How big of a tractor would it take to make the same lift?

The newer wide axel Fords are probably the sharpest turning trucks on the market. The old leaf spring trucks are laughably bad. I have no idea how the engineers screwed that up so bad. The medium duty trucks turning sharper.

If it’s a newer tank with a one piece lid I’d have no hesitation to do it. I’ve driven my tracked skid steer over those tanks. If it’s an old tank with the 3 piece lids or an even older steel tank then no way.

I assume they have a bill of origin. That’s what new trailers leave the factory with and they frequently aren’t titled to save taxes. If the first owner does title then the state takes the bill of origin and it’s sold with a title from then on.

I wouldn’t put a stump bucket on a tractor. On a CTL a stump bucket can do some work but a tractor loader isn’t made for that abuse nor are they strong enough to do much good.

An engine hoist would probably be capable of lifting it off but it would be better and safer to just pay for lift gate delivery.

I’ve never seen a 6x6 concrete truck that wasn’t a front discharge. You can’t do much with a front discharge truck because they’re rear engine.

I’m sure it makes a huge difference in a single axel but a non 4x4 single axel gets stuck on level grass. I’m not sold on the idea of it being a game changer on a loaded tandem.

That’s kinda what I think. We’ve had loaded dump trucks in pretty bad places and when they do get stuck I can’t imagine 6x6 changing the outcome all that often. Maybe after the dump truck dumped the load 6x6 would have helped but there’s zero chance it would have came out loaded.

I don’t love the DEF either but I wanted a truck with an automatic and enough power to get out of its own way and as you’ve probably seen those are hard to find in a pre def truck especially a pre def truck that’s not clapped. Working ac is another big bonus which the def truck has.

After yellow freight closed down and auctioned their assets you can buy these Volvos cheap. And mine is 405 hp with jakes which is twice the power of most single axel trucks with DT 466s or c7 cats.

With bar tires my Grasshopper zero turn would have easily mowed this hill. It was broke down and I borrowed my brother’s zero turn with worthless turf tires and it was sliding worse than a snow board. I have no idea why worthless turf tires are always the default option from the factory.

If you spaced the spigots 100 ft from the sides and 200 foot to the next one you’d only cover 400 ft not the 490. You’d also be short of reaching the corners. Without doing any math and just guessing you’d need like 6 spigots to get good coverage of that area.
