I Went To Purchase A New Mini-Excavator And This Happened.....

A car collector friend did a special order and contract said less than 4 miles at the time of delivery…

He went to pick up his new special order and it had 237 miles… salesperson took it home over the weekend…

Situation got ugly and a significant accommodation made…

i agree machine is not remotely used, sat on a lot for a little bit, no digging machine would be that clean in 7 hours, the heat shield is fine and has no issues either. I'm starting to wonder if people here actually use there machines, as mine looks like this from a single rainstorm, even after i clean it. A power wash should have been in order.

You’re right. That machine is brand new. Even the rocks wedged in the tracks are brand new. Spotless 🙄

Dented? Gouged. Not sure. Looks kinda crappy.
Lower bolt bracket already rusting. Bad factory paint coverage?
Air filter cover not put on correctly.
Is kubota getting sloppy at the factory, or did someone remove the cover on a “new” machine, and why so?
At least the factory person who applied the kubota sticker , cared enough to orient it correctly with the “TOP”, but not whoever last assembled it.
Even the rubber drain nipple on the air filter cover looks like it’s spent some years in the sun .
Maybe that’s just the picture? Not sure
Definitely is not new. Almost new, slightly used, yes

You realize that’s the muffler with a heat shield right? Exhaust manifolds are always rusted literally every single one. I’ve never seen the heat wrap not be wrinkled either. Moving the air filter cover one notch around would take 5 seconds.

Looks like it’s fresh out of the factory 😂

Exactly. It's not about what other people want. It's about what you want and you paid for.

Thanks for pointing this out. My last name is not Kubota, and I don't make excavators, so I am not familiar with every part. I thought this was a thick metal part that had somehow gotten mangled.

The hours are the big issue, though. Used is used.

It’s a flexible insulation material. They all look like that. I’m guessing the machine idled on the lot a couple hours. I see zero evidence to support that machine has dug any dirt definitely not for 7 hours.

I've always been a nal about my equipment but everything gets scratched in use. So the mini ex had some dirt on it, big deal and 7.1 hours could be from moving it around in the lot and/or pre servicing it. No such thing as a virgin machine that I'm aware of.

Zero hours and 7 hours would raise at least a question in my mind.

Everyone agreeing to cancel the transaction seems to be the best outcome.

At the car dealership management was very strict with the new inventory… used inventory no problem making a parts run or going to pick up something to eat… the thought was getting a little run time is a plus.

This post will be even funnier, if the OP lives on a dirt road, and 90% of this was picked up on the trailer ride over. LOL

If it came from Bayside, they have 3 locations. I'm betting his "brand new 0 hour" is still in Faulkner and the one that was dropped (7.1 hours) came from Upper Marlboro.
The "dealer" does not have a 36 year history. Hugh C. Gardiner sold to Bayside (automotive dealership) around March 2022. The Gardiners that still work there are considered employees.

...

I've already located another machine 120 miles away.. I actually got a better deal not that it really matters.. So I'm confident everything will end up just fine..

.
Good. Do due diligence and check it out. 120 miles away is practically next door so that or inclement weather should be no excuse.

Trust but verify -R Reagan

Nothing is gouged below air cleaner that’s a flexible heat shield / blanket
Ok. I thought it was steel. That’s why I posed it as a question. I’m not familiar with that particular part

It seems strange, why would a new one ship without the bucket?
The original dealer my have rented it out and the bucket looked used.

For me the 7 hours would not be a problem, but I would have looked over the machine even before the bucket arrived.

I would be upset with the dealer for delivering a machine without cleaning it up new or used.
