I have had pretty good luck with Amazon for the little vacuum pumps. I bought a kohler 25 hp pump, from kohler, for only $9. That engine had a similar Briggs pump on it, but it runs better with the new one.

Cold, miserable day. It is sleet, off and on, about 36 degrees. Need to work in the shop today. I saw a 6 or 7 deer out back this morning. About a 100 yards away, they just look at me and the dogs. Not really afraid!

I think the loader lock is there to keep you from bumping the joystick, and potentially dropping something. I suspect all newer tractors have it.

I have seen guns go crazy at auctions here. Most auctioneers have FFA licenses now. And they will sometimes bring a few guns in to get the auction pumped up. Guns at a auction are like catnip to some guys, they can't stay away! A auction without guns may bring in 100 guys. One with, 200+.

I was very fortunate. I got into a job that included a pension. Some of my friends have made more money than I did, but no pension means retirement is much harder for them. I think the best class I ever took in college was personal finance. It sure paid off!

I've put in a couple of frost proof hydrants here, I used the 1 in or 1.25 black poly, made for water use. It's tough. I didn't install one hydrant correctly, and it froze. It broke at the cast iron elbow, not in the poly pipe. I've got one that is under my driveway, been there 30 years...

Nice job RNG. The 1.5 x thread diameter for thread engagement is pretty standard. We used to use helicoils in aluminum tooling from new. The helicoil is actually stronger than the base metal. Another type is the Thread sherts? A similar type of inserted thread. Have a good one!

I used to do cylinder head volume checks, but the liquid we used non toxic anti freeze. It has a rust preventative in it, and isn't nasty to have on your hands. Paint thinner sounds bad.
