Well new dryer is hooked up and running. First time we've had a HE dryer. Also our first new dryer. The others were all used units and this is nice. Talking about going back and getting the matching washer. Lowes has them on sale this month. We both hate our washer. A front load HE so going back to a top load but staying with HE. Think I can fix the dryer and try to sale the pair.

In the FWIW department, Consumer Reports did a review of washers and dryers sometime in the last two or three months, and as usual, they found you don't always get what you pay for. If you're not a subscriber, the local library probably is.

The boy is showing improvement over night. Have always had to ask him several times to do something and it always seemed like he had to figure out what we wanted. This morning once you get his attention he's following simple instructions with 1-2 prompts. Doctor kept saying they drained a lot of fluid yesterday almost like there was more fluid than he expected. His congestion also seems to be less this morning, but doing more coughing. So maybe it's draining.

There's something to be thankful for! Imagine walking around with your ears full of water like when you first come to the surface when swimming underwater. That's probably what his hearing was like. He's likely feeling a lot better, too, without all that pressure. It was probably quite painful, too. The Eustachian Tube runs from the middle ear to the nasal cavities. If it's too small, which was my problem, it doesn't drain the middle ear and fluid builds up. Maybe the tubes have let the pressure equalize and the Eustachian Tube is working a bit, and you're right that he's coughing because of the drainage. I think by junior high school I'd grown enough that the tubes could be removed, but it sure cramped my swimming until then.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. We're having Thanksgiving at our house and entertaining 6 people including my Mother and Father and two couples that are close friends of ours.

This is my wife's first Thanksgiving as a US citizen by the way so it's special for us. She came from the Philippines in 2007. It's also our 10th anniversary of meeting online.

God Bless Our Troops!

Kevin
Hope y'all have a great Thanksgiving day and congratulations to your wife on her citizenship !

It's 32F and freezing rain. I was on my way back from my parents house to my house and as I got ready to pull in my yard my truck died and and no more juice to the dash or anything.

Opened the hood and the negative battery terminal was melted.

Not sure what exactly happened yet. I had my dad push me on into my yard with his truck and will check it once the weather clears up.

Finally got my cat Garfield to come in the house out of the bad weather.

He's still getting used to his and my new place.

He mostly stayed outside when the weather was warmer and didn't want to come in like he did at my old house.

I finally got him to come in just a little bit ago out of the freezing rain.

I wouldn't want to be out in it.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

I wasn't able to get good pics in the waning light but Don and other Texans will appreciate the fact that my brother's next door neighbor, in addition to the normal black angus, also owns 6 very large Texas Longhorns that he keeps as pets. From a distance the largest looked like a rhino ambling along.

Quiet day here, watching Dallas not doing well against the NC Panthers, but honestly not much interested in it. Some nice hot turkey sandwiches planned for dinner.

Pretty much a great Thanksgiving day here.

Started out with siliconing on the last course of styro on the backdrop, then onto cleaning up some of the styro shavings in the gee-rage ... managed to pop two of the rollers for the door out of the track when I went to open the door without noticing the 8' stepladder was going to be in the way. That wasn't too bad to fix.

Moved on from there to cleaning out the remaining gutters on the house - got that all done except for a few feet of the corner down by our bedroom, which will require the 27' extension ladder.

Then finished up sweeping out the main chimney for the WBF and water heater.

About that time the sun was starting to go down, so I got as much of sealing the cracks in the chimney crown done as I could before I couldn't see anymore.

Then a feast The Woman threw together: some cocktail shrimp, turkey, mash tatters and gravy, broccoli, and some dinner rolls. She made two pumpkin pies, with Almond and Amaretto ... haven't even had any of those yet ... was too stuffed after I ate ... promptly fell asleep for a little nap.

Now that I'm awake again, I'll probably grab a shower and then do some vacuuming out in the garage in preparation for the cement work on the backdrop ... after I move my van so it isn't in her way in the morning.

Hope everyone had a pleasant and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Had a great Thanksgiving dinner at my SIL's. Very good dinner, great friends and family. We were gone 7 hours, and our newest dog, a little terrier, did not have a accident. So all is good here!!

Watch out, do some reading, my buddy bought a new HE topload washer and he hates it. It doesn't get the clothes as clean, it won't fill up with water very well. I think he wants to improve it by moving the water level switch if possible. Also says the clothes don't agitate as well.

I will be doing some research before I buy. But I don't see how it can be much worse than my current washer. My clothes go in smelling, and if I don't use twice the recommended detergent and then let it wash for 2 1/2 hours they come out smelling. And not good. Think a wet sweaty chicken mixed with dirt and manure. Yuck. My sister and her husband have the same washer. They love it. He's an accountant at a hospital and she's a pharmacist at the same place. They live in a duplex and don't even mow a yard. Their clothes wash fast and come out clean. I was complaining about ours one day and they asked how much I washed. I said 3 jeans and 3 t-shirts. She said they wash way more than that and asked how dirty the clothes were. I said look at me this is pretty normal for a day. She just said ohh.

Only drawback to going with a non HE washer now is I can forget any savings with the dryer as the dryer is only as efficient as the washer. Washer must get the water spun out of the clothes.
