Suction strainers keep lost sockets in the hydraulic tank from getting into the pump, little more. You need a full flow return line filter, 10 micron rated. Installing a Zinga style filter yourself aids in finding replacement element.

I tried Discount Hydraulic hose. After 2+ weeks of inaction, they did something timely, they canceled my order at my request. Not impressed. Hydraulics Direct got me the fittings I needed.

Take a look at Avon Trail rider tires. They list them in your size. I find them a great road tire and they work great for me on dirt/gravel.

That rod failure is a mechanical issue with the backhoe. Either the stops are poorly located or the geometry sucks. The backhoe should mechanically stop swinging before the cylinder bottoms. If it doesn’t, you bend rods or pop pistons off the rod. It may be a design issue or a manufacturing...

Some cylinders have both ports located near each other to simplify hose routing. The tube is used to supply oil to the other end of the cylinder. You will also see tubes welded on when the cylinder has a block on it for a holding valve.

An unloaded pump has 2 gear sections. At low pressure, both gear sections supply oil. At a preset pressure, the unloaded valve opens and dumps one section.

Did you look at your tractor’s hydraulic schematic or service manual? That should show you the location of the standard relief valve. If it is at the pump, then you are good to go. If not, then you need a relief between the pump and priority flow divider.

Check your tractor for the relief location. Many have a relief at the pump. If it does, then you don’t need to add a relief. If it located somewhere else on the tractor, then you need a relief between the pump and flow divider.

I would install the priority flow divider between the pump and FEL valve. Your steering should have hydraulic priority over anything else. The sacrifice in FEL speed is minor compared to loss of steering when you inadvertently activate the FEL while moving and steering. And it will happen.

Looks like an orifice check, allows free flow in one direction, restricted in the other. Likely made by the valve manufacturer to Ford’s spec. If you have a part number, you could do a search For one or try a salvage yard. The simplest way around it if you can’t find an original is the...
