    LED Light Bar

Have any of you felt that you had too much light at night with blowing snow? I've had it so bright and with the blowing snow was completely lost and drove off the pavement well into the field it was blowing so hard. I've only lived here for 30 and constructed the driveway 34 years ago so its not...

Buying Advice Talk me out of a new 4052R cab/hst w/440 loader

The door gasket problem is easily solved with some clear silicone and painters tape to hold the gasket as the silicone cures. I have no idea why JD can't do this when they assemble the doors.

Considering a high hours 4720... Thoughts?

My only complaint is the antifreeze/oil leak coming from the timing cover housing at just around 1000 hours. I'll live with it until something needs replacing on the front of the engine.

    Cab for allergy suppression?

Night and day difference with a cab and allergies. I'm allergic to just about every damn thing that grows in a field.

    Compressor Question

My coming air compressor will be located on a mezzanine so a remote ball valve for draining and even a switch will be located below in the work area. I'm just going to run the drain line thru the wall. This arrangement will also provide a "tube" to hold the condensation in a pipe that will...

    Diesel Running Backwards

Blew the hat off the boss one day when the 300Plus Mack engine caught a shut down just right and fired up in reverse. The old Detroit 2S engines where known for runaway. Our old fire truck had an emergency shut down switch that closed an air damper in the intake. In construction we knew to...

    Mowing Kubota diesel overheating.

Wrong. AF also raises the boiling point and helps the seals. If the engine has liners it helps the water side of them as well from pitting.

    Tractor with cab for snowblowing

Hard to beat a bucket up front and an inverted blower. I run both a 72" front blower and a 84" inverted. The inverted will out perform in every storm. Both machines are 56HP at the PTO but the 72 is a hydro.

Hydraulic toplink for rear facing snow blower

I'm a lot more level for the driveway but for the hydro look into a Fasse Valve. Is it perfect? No. Does it work just fine? Yes. I'd try it with out it first but the valves could be a real benefit in the long haul. I wish I installed another really but I'll survive. Saved thousands over any...

Final thoughts before purchase in the 3500lb+ cab range?

Hey Bub, Are you really set on new? I couldn't bring myself to pay for it and I waited till the implements I wanted were up for sale used. I don't blame you one bit on bagging the BH. Mini excavator is easily 10 times faster. Between Hammond Tractor, Union Farm Equipment and Chappell in...

    4R Cab Rear Wiper Upgrade

Best one I could quickly find. You can see it cut around the fenders with about 1” of clearance. Low enough to stay out of my line of sight if I’m looking out the rear window. Huge peace of mind. I’m betting that curved glass ain’t cheap. The piece of aluminum angle is a stiffener. The whole...

    4R Cab Rear Wiper Upgrade

I never had an issue so far with my 4720 as I don't use the wiper (yes I know its not a 4066) but I'll tell you the first time I fired up my inverted Normand blower I was afraid the flying ice was going to take out the back window. I immediately bought the slow moving triangle frame and a piece...

Is a 3hp upgrade worth it?

YA. I'd like to see someone telling the difference between the two. This goes a lot deeper than horsepower as you alluded to. The losses running thru the hydro transmission are going to result in a non significant transfer of power. In your example of a lawn mower sure because that mower has a...

    Tractor is dead...help

My NH 4835 is notorious for a bad ground to the frame. Chased it for a while and got really tired of screwing around. About 4-5 years ago I ground the frame bare, gave it a wad of grease and reattached the ground and covered it all with grease. All better now.

Filling a Hundred Holes (6-feet across, 4-feet deep)

From a pile created from bull dozing? You were not putting a truck next to any excavator in these wet fields and I've never seen an excavator finish grade a field for proper run off. I worked in dirt and ledge long before I sat on any tractor.

    Telescoping Draft Links JD 5303

It's the one item JD forgot about and for no reason other than stupidity. My NH4835 has them and they are one of the most useful things about the machine.

    Straightening Bucket Edge?

Don't use the middle of a bucket for prying stuff out of the ground. Not to OP but a general statement: Only use the corner of the bucket and that doesn't happen.

Filling a Hundred Holes (6-feet across, 4-feet deep)

You can move dirt a lot faster with less wear and tear when you put the dirt into a dump truck and move it. I watched my farm neighbor start to move a lot of dirt after regrading the fields. I'm laughing at them using an excavator to pile dirt and have the back hoe move it one bucket at a time...

Operating tractor in 4wd all the time?

My neighbor farmer has had nothing but problems with the 4WD JD 4720 from farm help always running in 4WD. Coolant quick disconnects?

Based on my usage, do I need more than one rear remote?

Why limit yourself out of the gate? Get the other pair of remotes. When the wind changes direction while blowing you will be thankful for not getting out to manually adjust it. Life also changes your needs some days as well.

    Bolt Clutch assembly help wanted.

I have a bolt clutch assembly on a 2013 Salsco 627 PTO chipper that I bought used. While the chipper is in outstanding shape the prior owner obviously had trouble with the PTO shaft more than once. The lack of missing paint, rust and blades that are in mint condition tell me he tried to do...
