It depends on the TYM model. The ones with the TYM (kukje) engine are just like the old Branson models. Others have Yanmar or Deutz engines and need the computer to work correctly.

With that budget and those options for oems, I'd go LS. You won't get much of a Kubota for $40k compared to the other 2. You may want to look a little further away.

Woodland Mills has a stump grinder that can use 15-45 PTO HP.

You don't need to buy a mini X for the work you have. Only the retaining wall work is really suited to that job. You'd be better off with a tractor big enough to drive the stump grinder. As other have said, the other option is really a full sized ex and better to hire it done.

If you are worried about stability, you could step up to the 494. Wider and heavier.

I'd probably look into renting an excavator. Regardless of brand, you can rent one many times before you reach the cost of a backhoe. If you really think you'll need one that often, buy an excavator. It's easier to sell than a backhoe when/if you determine you didn't really need one.

I like the hammers. I am rural, not suburban. I don't have lawn. Knives should be better if you want a more lawn-like finish. My hammers are big and heavy. I can run over branches up to 3" like a forestry mulcher. But it still cuts grasses well, too.

There was maybe $1500 difference for me to go from 494 to 574. Since it's the H, I wanted the extra PTO HP for mowing and potentially a chipper in the future. No issues so far.

I get the land offers a lot. Land ownership is public record. They just use the tax rolls. The offers are ridiculously low. Last one I looked at was about 2/3 of what we paid for the land alone 3 years ago. That doesn't include the house and barn at all.

My first thought is you are using the wrong tool for a clean cut. Rotary cutters are designed to bash brush into submission. Depending on what you are trying to cut, you may be better off with a finish mower (lawn-like grass) or a flail mower (hammers for brush, knives for grass).

Century was made by Branson. Branson is now part of TYM. I have a cousin to your machine. My property is mostly forested and I got this Heavy Duty Root Grapple from CID (sold through dealers) to move logs. I also have Forks, 4k ones from Ironcraft.

The regen is a lot less scary with a TYM (formerly Kukje) engine. Even if you have a problem, the tractor will not go into limp mode. If you keep the rpms up, it will rarely even need to regen.

If it is newer and at that HP, it will have DPF and possibly DEF as well. DPF alone isn't really that bad for most people. It wastes fuel, but that's another can of worms.

My property is mostly forest. I have a flail mower for those areas that are not. My next PTO powered implement would be a chipper. If I had money burning a hole in my pocket, maybe a tiller.

For me it was the weight-strength trade off. Better steel can have the same strength, but weighs significantly less.
