Now That R14 Tires Have Been Out For A While

The tires might fit the wheel, but, the match that is difficult to make is the proper ratio of tires to the reduction in the tractor differentials of a 4WD tractor. If one of the tires is a smaller (or larger) diameter, the gear ratio is thrown off, when operating in 4WD. The tractor then...

Few workers, no prices, just a place to pay

YEP, my SIL has the AP,, when we are in Lowes, he scans the barcodes, and can compare pricing right on his phone,, Personally, I hate having a bunch of AP's on my phone, I live with the few my wife insists that I have,, o_O

    Best Shop Vice?

I prefer to use a milling vise as a bench vise,, This one was too small,,, so, I got a bigger one. I had to use the FEL to lift it onto the bench,, A milling vise seems to have much higher clamping force, IMHO,,

300 lawn runs 20 mins then backfires and dies

Replace the condenser,, then replace the coil,, ONLY use a Kohler coil,, or you will be replacing it again in 6 months. These are not "digital" components,, they age, and fail, usually slowly. Diagnosing is difficult for a newbie,, it is cheaper to replace the components, than learn ,, replace...

300 lawn runs 20 mins then backfires and dies

Old JD mowers that used the Kohler "K" engine (like Model K301, K321,, etc,,) have an ignition system with a coil, and a condenser. Both the coil, and the condenser are susceptible to doing this stall thing when they get warm,,

Converting woods finish mower to quick hitch

I think the two bars going to the rear at a 45 degree angle need to either have a hinge installed, or replace them with chain. I did a quick hitch upgrade to that mower, then I changed to Pats connection, I prefer Pats,, now. The Pats system does a nice job of carrying chain!! (LOL!!)

Nick S,, are yours falling apart, or just "sloppy" ? I doubt I would do anything until they fall apart,, We have a JD 855,, with a loader, we are not having any issue ,, so far,,

    pickup truck size

I was in this situation when I went to purchase my previous truck. I wanted a white service truck (that model, simply to minimize the options, and keep the price down) this is the truck I was about to purchase; Just before the salesman wrote it up, another salesman said "Did you show him the...

    Power Washing the Tractor

To me, the only difference between washing a tractor with a PW and a garden hos is how long it takes. I use a 11HP Honda powered PW,, and t gets the job done quick,, I can clean three tractors with a PW in the time it takes to wash one with a garden hose,,

Purchased a mini instead of a UTV

I have been looking at SXS's and mini trucks for a while, then, my daughter bought a new car because her 158K mile 2007 Colorado quit running,, I told her I wanted it, she said come get it, no one would offer anything because there was some problem,, YEP,, there was problems,, so far, I...

    2WD GMC 2500HD

Also, IMHO,, you can not use Ford experiences to discuss Chevrolet. The suspension it very different, and the frame stiffness is very different. These two factors have a tremendous effect on 2WD traction. Also, I was wondering if the OP's 2WD truck that is being discussed has a locking...

    7' or 8' Angle Blade

Seven foot was right for me,, because I found it as a used blade,, at the right price,, Obviously, it is not wide enough for this tractor, but, it is track wide enough behind my JD 4105, which is similar to the OP's tractor , HP-wise. I would never consider a 8 foot blade, I only have 1,400...

    2WD GMC 2500HD

The first trucks I drove were in Charles City VA,, right next door,, anyways,, we learned that long wheelbase, and a heavy engine resulted in a disaster if there was no 4WD,, plan on getting pulled,, a LOT!! The truck will NEVER move in reverse, unless it is downhill in reverse,, or on...

    Log splitter question

Make some sort of spacer,, leave 1/4" of gap,,, I think the 2" gap is to probably suit a 4 way splitting adapter. If you add a spacer, it would be kinda like a 2 way splitting adapter,, :ROFLMAO: Probably the best spacer would be a block of aluminum,, if the wedge hit the...
