I have a Vermeer 504N and it has been and is a pretty good baler, my problem is the closest dealer keeps little to no parts on the shelf, if I was buying a new baler it would be a JD because of their extensive parts network and dealer locations in my area. Good luck whatever you decide.

We call them closures down here, they are usually made out of heavy foam and have a sticky side to adhere to the metal roofing , they also make a hog hair type closure for vented ridge caps.

I just purchased a Kaufman 22' tilt deck trailer this past year, I did upgrade to the 8k axles and 17.5 tires, I don't miss the ramps on my old equipment trailer at all, I don't think you will regret getting a tilt deck, I paid a little over 8k if I remember right, with a spare.

I would have thought it common , it sure is around here, would have never believed that a notched post with a bolted header was unusual for a pole barn.

Notching a post is good insurance, not overkill, I like to bolt my headers to my post rather than a nail or a screw as I think it's a stronger connection and I want it setting in a notch.

I apoligize, I mis-understood what the OP's problem was , I didn't realize the problem was it not sliding on far enough before it hit's the flange on the tractor, maybe the pto shaft extender is the best best if you don't want to grind some off of either or both sides which I would hate to do.

Exactly how much horsepower with the hydrostatic transmission does that tractor make, because waist high weeds and grass ( if it's fairly thick ) seems a bit of a stretch unless you are barely creeping or starting and stopping.
