McCormick X4.3 Frozen PCV - Blowing Oil - Big Mess at -40C

Wow, I do not know which to feel sorrier about, your tractor issue or the fact you had to be outdoors in that weather. Personally, grew up on the shores of Lake Erie. Only been in -22 degrees was my record, wind chill unknown. I recall though being almost numb. A friend in Montana couldn't get...

    Good morning!!!!

Good morning from Texas. Hopefully, the latest weather nightmare (ice) is over. Just outdoors, a slow rain and just above 32 here. Ice is beginning to melt, hope my pine tree limbs recover. At least here, did not lose power. Only one major flicker that did not reboot all the clocks or TV (Dish)...

    Good morning!!!!

Goodmorning. 32.5 degrees here. Winter Storm Warning for the next couple days. Ice is the issue. Was 70 degrees yesterday, so quite a change. Luckily got some hay out for the cattle yesterday, so don't have to go out this morning. :)

Gov't mandates gas can flame arrestors.

After reading this thread AND having past issues, I ordered a Just Right TYPE 2, 1" nozzle can. Almost made me cry to pay that much, but I keep multiple 5 gallon containers here. Also ordered an adjustable bar for the pickup to keep them (as was with my plastic cans) from sliding around. Now, if...

    >> Now my jugs swell up like a blowfish in the summer sun because there is no vent. It's sketchy as h***. Makes me think it's just a matter of time until the jug >> ruptures and fuel goes everywhere. Yeah, that's great for the environment. Not to mention personal safety I agree. Have had...

Jeff9366, yes, the reference it was very helpful. I have noted you have a lot of expertise in farming / tractors etc. After discussion with Buckeye Tractor and a local friend, I could use a few words of wisdom concerning tool bars and chisel plows. When I look these up for example, I see tool...

Jeff, I wanted to thank-you again for the pointer to Buckeye Tractors. I was able to speak at length to someone there who set me straight on a few items. I am CERTAINLY no expert here. But, just adding my 2 cents that others may disagree with. I am investigating additions for my toolbar. For this, there are various options which could provide me flexibility to do multiple things without breaking the bank. In my case, I have 8 acres to work...

    Good morning!!!!

Could not agree more. Spend almost ALL my time fixing something (driveway, fences, clean up from wind/storms... on and on) and seems less and less time, if at all, to do any new or hobby projects. Increasing age and decreasing energy really aggravate the issue. Then in Texas, here comes...

    Watering Cattle from a Pond

Patrick, Thanks. Matter of fact I have contacted RPS solar. I have a previously drilled (by an oil company) 6" cased well. For this project, I have considered another solar pump primarily for cattle water. This is far from the pond where I am also considering a solar pump from the pond to up...

Goodmorning. ANOTHER too warm day in Central Texas. The wind is howling again and drying everything out. I hope I am wrong, but seems we are slipping into another drought. Watering Cattle from a Pond

Have not yet given serious consideration to the number of gallons through. Likely in the range 250/500. How much sunshine? I am in Texas, usually all day every day! It is NOT a problem even if the trough went dry. This would be supplemental water and the far side of the pond would NOT be...

    Watering Cattle from a Pond

Yeah, it is sort of a gamble. But, cattle are generally LAZY and will take the path of least resistance. Given my site, where I would put the water trough, I do not believe there would be a problem?

    Watering Cattle from a Pond

Yes, the small solar pump is what I was considering. Was asking if anyone has done this and if so, what they're setup / experience has been. It would be helpful to determine what company they may have purchased from also. There is a lot of low quality/junk out there. But, a trough with and...

    Watering Cattle from a Pond

Roustabout, Guess I have not defined this project very well. This project is to provide water "up the bank" for cattle. It is approximately 1/4 mile from the house. Piping water or running electricity to the site is not a realistic option due to trees, ravines, fence lines, and other...

    Watering Cattle from a Pond

No chance for a Siphon system. I do not want a generator back there. This system would have to be solar. Perhaps this is not practical? Just not sure. I would like to pull water from a pond up the bank and install a cattle trough to keep them from eroding the bank. I would say the rise is no more than 10'. The pond is about 2 acres, but the level can be 3-4 feet higher or lower depending on the rains. It is about 2 acres and 10-15' deep...

Novice wants a MIG, advise ?

My gut tells me you are right here about buying local. I have been watching UTUBE reviews and reading until my eyeballs are exhausted. Seems EVERY machine (Everlast, Yes welders, Titanium, Vulcan, just to name a few) are capable, and it is difficult to "really" find any bad reviews. I do not...

Yes, there are a couple of "reasonably" priced ones that have metal blades. They seem to call these "chipper / shredders" and can-do small branches. But, the reviews that I have found range from good to junk.. the ones <$200. Once I start going near or above 200 I lose interest.
