Does that actually do anything? I've sometimes felt that the relay drew at least as much as the light. Maybe things have changed but I had one truck that the relay would shut the light off, then it would come back on x number of minutes later. Then it would shut off, turn back on, shut back...

A couple of oddities from the postal service. When I was self employed, one of my bread and butter contracts was from a local paper mill. I gave them a good price because I could work around my schedule, and also an invoice on Tuesday morning would see a check on Friday. Usually. The time I...

    Frost heave?

Below frost level. Then put foam board over it. Frost will go down but not sideways. I was going to suggest simply digging out the ground in front of, under, and in back of the door. Then replace it with good packing sand.

Do you have a way of turning the pile? After 6 years, a day with a 40 ton excavator would make that pile shrink as well as rot down faster. You might be surprised at how much the bottom has composted.

    Clear cutting half arsed, why?

That's why the old family farms were such a great place to hunt; those piles were great places for rabbits, pheasants, and other small game to hide. The NRCS pays people to put brush piles on their land just like that, to enhance habitat.
  20. J

    Clear cutting half arsed, why?

If it isn't worth anything now chances are it won't be worth anything later. Why would you want it taking up space which could be growing trees of value? Clear cutting half arsed, why?

While it's ugly the pile will rot down. Not knowing anything about the landowner it's hard to say what their plans are. That's one of my options when I'm through. Sit in a chair some cold rainy night amidst the burying spots of my dogs, and go out with happy memories.

You Know You Are Old When

The first time for me was when all of the girls at McDonald's looked too young (AKA jailbait). Now that's come around full circle. Many of them are close to my age again but serve as reminders why I don't eat there much- fat, toothless, and way too expensive for what I get.

Getting an annual physical at the doctors

We made a lot of choices back then which were based on emergency dialogs. It was supposed to be temporary, yet got dragged out for whatever reason. Now it seems some of those "temporary measures" have become long term, and I wonder what we have given up. For 3 years my mother said we'd have a...

Smoking is one of the few dumb things I never did. Actually I tried them one summer at a Demolay conclave, but quit a few days later. The last time I bought grain at TSC it was (two) 50 lb bags, which I then tossed over my shoulder and headed out the door. In hindsight it was a dumb move which my back paid for, but what happened next made me feel even more stupid. I generally hold my hand out at arm's length because the...

I think about this often. When we had family gatherings 45 years ago my parents, aunts and uncles would talk about what meds the doctor has them on. I'm glad to see somebody else feels that way. When I'm gone I want to be disposed of in the cheapest way possible. I'll be done with my body, it won't matter what happens to it. I grew up in a flower shop, funeral flowers helped to feed me. Yet the time to buy them is when people are living.

At least you can run down to Harbor Freight and buy another, and it shouldn't be that difficult to switch over. Is there any chance you got moisture in the engine, and a ring just got a little rust spot? Sometimes a little Marvel Mystery Oil or transmission fluid will loosen those right up.

No doubt. You also have a better mill, equipment suitable for the task, considerably more experience, and often have younger muscle to help with the heavy lifting. I just do it as a hobby, and am still a novice. That log can produce a much more valuable product at a commercial hardwood mill.
