    Pricing pallet forks

I researched it a bit, including watching tractor time with Tim's video on it. He's got a good vid on that topic. 4k weight rating is totally overkill for my little massey, but the only forks rated less (thus lighter) from Artellian are double the cost of those Titans. 36" seems a good fit...

Guys, I'm finally grown up enough to buy real pallet forks instead of the bolt-on mess that came with my tractor. I'm looking for 36" forks, and the cheapest ones I found with a headache rack was at Titan for $660. These. Is that a good price for pulling the trigger, or should wait until...

What is it with Harley riders?

The thing I hate most about hog riders is how they put on the screaming eagles exhaust, and just make a loud racket as they fly by you. Like shut up, I don't wanna hear all that. Years ago, I read an interview with Sonny Barger, the head guy for Oakland's Hell's Angels. He was talking about...

If it's loss noted in the reservoir over the span of years, I wouldn't worry about it. Just top it off to the full line when the engine is cold, and just keep an eye on it. OTOH, if you noticed it dropping fairly quickly, that's a leak or maybe a blown head gasket or some such.

    GC1705 3 pt leak down

As others have stated, if you could literally see it drifting down, yeh it's a problem. Otherwise it's probably fine.

    Draft & Pressure Shift levers

When I'm mowing in the heat of summer, I take off my t-shirt...but only in the backyard. I'm too sexy to be doing that while mowing the front, don't wanna be fighting off the womans while I'm busy mowing.

    Headphones/Ear Buds

I had problems with the first pair I got off Amazon, including the plastic rings inside the foam ear buds cracking, which you described. As far as the problem with the headset itself, they sounded muffled to a caller when I was talking to them on the phone. So contacted Isotunes directly...

    Cleaning lawn of branches

I hear ya. But also depends on what you're mowing. Like a level yard, sitting on a mower is great. But my backyard is far from level, and my back would take a royal asskicking on a garden tractor or my massey, that ache was piling up with time. That's why I started looking at standers.

Ha, I love how these threads morph! But yeh anyways, I'm in the Chicago area. My lot and the guy next to me have the 2 smaller lots on our road, around 2.6 acres. The rest of the lots around here are around 5 acres. We're all on hilly terrain, with yards that slope down into floodplains...

They're great machines, but so pricey! Near double the cost of my Bradley. Scag, Toro, etc..all the commercial mowers are generally way too pricey, at least in terms of just for home use. I looked hard at various makes/models, read a bunch of reviews and watched youtube vids. Finally...

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Thx for the tips, Hube. Same here, would be cool to have a tiller for the Massey for leveling some wacked yard I would have used it for, but I can't justify a purchase just for that. With this thing, I could do it in spots, and then level off with the rachet rake and dethatcher.

    Variable Frequency Drive questions

I've got a toolroom CNC lathe and a knee mill, both 3 phase. So when I move shop to my current location with 1 phase elect, I went with a 20hp phase converter from American Rotary. With shipping it was $2k. This was back in 2016.

    Carpenter Bees ...

I use spectracide carpenter bee and yellowjacket killer, that stuff does work on them. The straw is flexible, so I snake it into the hole as deep as able and hit the go button. The stuff foams up in there, and soon they start filing out and dropping dead on the ground. Then I plug the hole.

I could switch from plow to loader bucket in seconds, so I don't care there. But, my grass is still too soggy to put the tractor on it anyways, so it's sitting in the garage with the plow still on it. I'm waiting for that perfect timing to get the lawn sweeper going on the grass, picking up...

  168. GeneV

    Cleaning lawn of branches

Yeh like I said earlier, big branches I pick up by hand, the sweeper grabs the smaller stuff. The sweeper doesn't have the lawn looking like a golf course, but good enough to look presentable.

$8500 USD?!! For residential use, for picking up sticks and dethatching? Well I think my Agrifab sweeper was like $300 and the CMP dethatcher was $500. Out of a budget of $8.5k, that leaves a whole lot for coke and hookers!

    Cleaning lawn of branches

I'm on 2.6 acres. Each spring, I go around with the wheelbarrow picking up bigger branches. After that, I hook up the tow-behind lawn sweeper, which gets the smaller stuff adequately enough. Whatever's left over gets mowed and disappears that way.
