I hate that plug for the very reason you're worried about it! I used channel locks and was careful where I placed the jaws, that way I was able to unscrew it w/o damaging it...to much.

Yessir, I would totally do that if I had to change angles often. It would be super easy too, just attach a rope to the top of the level (has a hole in it already), drape it over the hood. But I don't change the angle all that much, just a few times for that whole driveway.

Nope, it's all blacktop. That's just the result I'd get using the snow edge, using my technique there with the bucket curled down. I found when using it with bucket level, I'd have same problem you're having now, with the bucket riding up over the snow. So curled down was the way to go, but...

As a hand snow pusher, that thing is awesome I could attest (2nd year with mine). Doesn't work great as a traditional shovel though, but that's not it's purpose.

I don't drain gas outta mine either. My maintenance is minimal with the chainsaw. Really the only time I clean anything out is when I take the chain off to sharpen it, at which point the sprocket is exposed and I'll halfazz wipe all that out.

I leave mine on for all the reasons listed here already.

Personally, I love old steel when it's well maintained or restored. I've seen some really nice Bridgeport mills for instance, with their ways grounded/scraped, quills replated, new screws, just everything tight and nice and smooth. But mostly, I've seen old clapped out machines, needing lots...
