The paint can said "Barn Red". It looks more orange so now I have to get a paint chip from the color of the gear and have some mixed up. I will still paint at least the inside of the side rails with the orangish barn color and re-cover with the mixed. Here are a couple pictures.

Thanks for the comments. I have a question. Because this is a fifth wheel type steering, when I stand in one of the front corners of the wagon, it "squats" to one side pretty much. I know that I can evenly load the wagon to help compensate but just wondering if anyone has suggestions. I was...

I have some pictures of the wagon with the unpainted box. Blotches of paint that you can see on the sides is from spray painting the inside of the hardware before it got installed.

Got the rims back with the used tires back today and packed the bearings and put on new felt seals. I think it is all starting to come together now. Need to let the wood dry for a while before I paint with an oil base. Here are some more pics.

Put on side boards...used original boards and hinges. Won't be able to use original front and rear boards because the rebuild is wider. Will use 5/4 x 6 treated wood for front and back. The back is on hinges and the front has stake pockets.

Home from vacation on Sunday and started more work on the wagon. Got the deck completed.

Bolted cross boards to main rails using 2x2's and lag bolts. Added aluminum flashing to rails and cross boards. Started to put deck on. I begin vacation this Saturday and will not be working on the wagon until Sept. 10. Will keep you updated. Joe

The front tires are 6.5x16 while the back are 7.0x16. The back tires are Goodyear while the front are Allstate. I googled Allstate tires and they were sold by Sears. Both sets of tires are very much dry rot and I have replacements that were given to me by Dobbs Tire Store. A little bigger...

Bolted rails on frame. 2 2x6 boards for each rail glued and screwed together. Cross braces just setting in place to see how they will look. Will remove cross braces and put a piece of aluminum flashing on top of the rails to help protect against rot. Then will lag bolt the cross braces in place...

Repainted lighter shade of red. Re-assembled frame and ready to put on new wood.

Painted frame today. Don't really like the dark red color...it was labeled Oxide Red. Gonna stop at the store tomorrow and pick up a lighter shade of red and paint over. Will post pics after that "Color Change". Still haven't heard from anyone who might know the approximate age. Any help of...

What's it mean when the filter on my hydraulic system starts to expand? It's on the suction side of the valve leading back to the reservoir.

I'm making a log splitter and just wondering if a plastic tank is suitable for the hydraulic fluid, or should I get a metal tank? Thanks. Joe
