I've worked in several shops with DIY hoists like these. Problems were related to wheels too small, and short wheelbase.

Now I have only a 5+ bed, with lots of stuff in it. I can put boards on the rack with a couple of lashing straps quicker than working out a bed placement. Most of my lumber hauling lately has been 12ft 2x6's for deck repair.
