Good suggestion. Also the OP should check from the clutch connector to ground. It should read completely open. A short of the coil to the metal part of the clutch will cause the fuse to blow. Unfortunately, there is no fix for that problem other than replacing the clutch. Richard

Does each battery have it's own charge level gauge ? It maybe that it is discharged beyond the level that the charger thinks that it is a good battery. You could try disassembling the battery and see what the actual charge/voltage level is. Use caution !

Your best bet to keep your batteries in good condition is to use a battery maintainer. As noted above, there may always be some small discharge to keep the electronics of your machine alive. The battery maintainer will keep your battery fully charged but not overcharged. A trickle charger...

If I understand what you are saying correctly, you are NOT using hose clamps at the end of the fuel line. Band wraps will not clamp the hose securely to the barbed fitting, resulting in leaks that you are are experiencing. Richard

I have the Ryobi 14" with two 40V 4AH batteries. Got that when my gas powered saw wore out and would not start anymore. I only need a saw every now and then when a big branch needs to be cut down or a tree need to come down, but the tree cutting only happens about every 5 years or so.

You definitely do NOT want to use gas with Ethanol in it. It will destroy your carb O-rings and gaskets. Locate and buy the 91 octane fuel and ad some of the additives that are designed for older engines that originally used leaded fuel. Your pockit book will thank you. Richard

Well just throwing parts at it is one way to fix it, but a better way would be to determine what has failed. Could be just a loose wire or a connector that has come loose. Richard

Hum - hard to believe that a bad battery would cause a fuse to blow. I guess if the fuse was from the alternator to the battery and the battery drew more current than normal, it could happen, but I doubt it.

In Beenthere's photo of the hood parts, look at item #29. It appears that all you have to do is disconnect any head light wires there maybe and then with the hood tipped forward as far it will go, just lift the hood off of the item #29 on each side of the frame. Richard
