Do you actually need to use fire bricks in a piza oven?

I am building a pizza oven on my farm over a period of time as I don't live on the place. A lot of the designs mention using fire bricks. I was wondering is it necessary or will standard bricks work ok. I ask as it will only have occasional use and I have standard bricks available. Cityfarma

Gentlemen, place your bets...will it work????

I have a problem with trees that have become a weed and I cannot pull them by hand. I do not have spare hydraulics but do have pneumatics. The theory is that the 2.5" cylinder and 30 psi should give around 120lb pressure to the ram and the tree at the bottom of the V should then have around...

Additives for diesel in little use tractor

I have an L440 that does not get a lot of use. This means the fuel tank only gets refilled ocassionaly (when very low) and the fuel may be months old. It is then filled with fresh fuel. Is it recommended to add anything to the fuel to kill the nasties that may wish to cause me problems? Cityfarma

I have a water tank on the top of a hill and a 2" poly pipe coming from the dam. My problem is that the current connection system has led to a loss of water due to movement of the tank. Welding 101 or how to improve for low cost.

I have been slowly improving my welding by practice but today found a way to improve faster. I bought an automatic darkening helmet. I can now see where I am putting the stick and adjust the darkness so I can see where I am welding. The improvement is worth the cost. The only problem I have...

    Tillage 101, For beginners.

I need to till my paddock to get rid of weeds and maintain firebreaks. As I can only afford one, I would like to know what implement to use. I was considering a 7 point spring tyne harrow. My tractor is a Kubota L4400. A disc plough would turn over the dirt but I would then need to break it up...

    Bolt grade/specification information wanted

Does anyone have a link that explains what grades of bolts mean? If I build something that requires bolts, what type, size and strength are bolts and how do I specify? The last thing I want is to grab any old bolt that looks ok only to find it bends or breaks because it was too soft or has no...

    Welding with batteries

From reading many posts, I see there are others that live away from where there equipment is. My farm is 3 hours from home. There are also many people making equipment for the tractors though they are unable to access the tractor while making the attachments. I would like to know if anyone has...

    L4400 3ph lift only??

As a new player with a new toy, I was wondering if it is normal for my 3ph to have no down pressure. With the control at the lowest point, I can lift the lift arms. Is this normal a) for L4400, b) other brands? If normal, I suppose the weight of the implement is what drives equipment...

    Home brew boom pole

Here are (I hope) my first pictures. I hoped to use the boom on my L4400 to pull out lots of acacias that have become a weed on my property. It appeared to work ok. The problem I noticed was that the brackets for the 3ph were obviously too weak at 10mm. I have straightened them up and will be...
