Flea and tick prevention for dogs?

I use Frontline on my dogs. 8 years for one, 4 years for the other. They hardly ever see water. I've had very good luck as I live out in the sticks/tick country.

    Deer

I plant 2 acres of soybeans and 1/2 acre of clover for the deer and turkeys. This picture is taken out of my front door. Those are not all resident deer, they come from all over to a good food source. I counted 54 that night.

    Anyone cut firewood for health/exercise?

Living in the woods, I get plenty of exercise trimming trees, cleaning up wind falls and keeping my trails clear. We had 2 good storms so far that I'm still cleaning up after. I don't mind doing it and it is good exercise. The wife and I also split and stack firewood also. We use a log splitter.

EPA attempting to limit Internal Combustion vehicles used for Racing

I don't think that is true. After looking at my quote from the op and reviewing the link he posted, the EPA is talking about aftermarket high performance parts ( exhaust = headers ) as well as emissions equipment. Not just solely the latter.

EPA attempting to limit Internal Combustion vehicles used for Racing

I'm not sure if there was any pollution control devices. I think not. But it did not come from the factory with the much modified 454 engine, headers and narrowed Ford nine inch rear-end. The car is registered as how it is modified with it's Hobbiest plates. I'm not sure I understand your point.

EPA attempting to limit Internal Combustion vehicles used for Racing

This is BS. Modifying autos has been part of American heritage since the birt of the automobile. This seems to be a move toward implementing their Green New Deal. There is no way I would ever remove all the performance parts on my 1969 pro street chevelle. I do race it occasionally but it is...

What was the best dog you've had?

I haven't had that many dogs. I believe that all of them were good. However, one of my current dogs is the best one I've ever had. He is an 80 lb. Black Mouth Cur. He is the smartest, fastest, tough as nails dog I've ever had. Perfect for the homestead. Nothing gets past him. He is super loyal...

    Dog pics

The fine ladies at the bank give me treats for my dogs. My dogs think this is the only reason we go to the bank! When I get back to the truck this is what awaits me. Speaking of coyotes, the other day my big dog alerted me to one coming on to our property so I shot it!

My dog got his first bird

My dog's first bird was a Robbin also. We were walking down a trail in our woods when suddenly he thrust his head into some tall grass and came out with bird legs sticking out of his mouth. I knew right away what it was and in a loud voice I told him to put that down. We don't hunt baby birds...

    My helping a neighbor experience

A woman who is a patron of our bar and grill was in need of someone to plow out a spot in her back yard so her parents could park their fifth wheel trailer when they got home yesterday. The woman, who lives with her parents, is a very nice person and had not asked me to do this as she knew that...

    Got myself a new car

Although the car is 48 years old, it is new to me. I used to drag race when I was much younger and have always loved the classic muscle cars. Here is my 1969 Chevelle SS 396. It has a .030 over 454 now 461 big block with a th400 trans, 3500 stall converter and a ford 9" with 3:89 gears. It is...

    Bark collar for dogs

I saw another thread on the use of shock collars for dogs. Not wanting to hijack that thread I thought I'd start my own. I have a rescue dog that we got when he was 9 months old. He is now 4 years old. He is a black mouth cur (old yeller dog) named MF Jones. He can really live up to his name. At...

    My new snow weapon

I finally got a plow for my dump truck. It is a Western MVP3 9 1/2 foot V plow. It should really move some snow and help keep our bar lot clear. Here are some pics.

    recommendations welcome!

Hi all, I just purchased a 2016 6.4 liter Dodge Ram 3500 dump truck. I own a bar/restaurant that I'll have to plow and would like suggestions as to what plow and what size to look for. I was thinking a V plow in the 9' area. Would like to hear from your experience. Thanks.

    1911 owners....

I noticed in another thread (concealed carry - how many magazines), that there are some knowledgeable 1911 people here. I have always wanted a 1911 but for some reason when I went to buy one I ended up with a Springfield XDM 4.5 .45acp instead. 13 plus 1 capacity. It is a nice gun, especially...

My dog got his first taste of porcupine!

Unfortunately, my dog, MF Jones, ran into his first porcupine this morning. I had already known what my dog would do if he ran into one. As expected he ran up and tried to grab the quilled beast. I was yelling at the top of my lungs for him to stop. I actually thought I had successfully called...

    Black Mouth Cur

I believe that our rescue dog, MF Jones, may be a Black Mouth Cur. I was surfing the net last weekend when I came across this breed of dog. After reading all the info and looking at images, it fits him to a tee. He has really bonded to us and is loyal and super protective of us, especially my...

Got to use my Land Pride Grading Scraper

I recently picked up a Land Pride Grading Scraper. I got the GS2584. It is a perfect fit for my tractor. I've been maintaining my 1/2 mile easement with my rear blade (RBT3584) and a KK 7 foot landscape rake. This grading scraper was the icing on the cake. I'm very pleased with it. Unloading...

    Problem with a hawk

My wife started feeding wild birds a little over a year ago. Last week she finally attracted a pair of Cardinals to the feeders. It was her main goal. Along with the other thousand species she's attracted, including squirrels, coons, oppossum, fox and coyote, she faces a new problem. A hawk. It...

How many operate the left/right brake pedals independantly?

I have never unhooked the latch that connects my brake pedals together. I was told that you could manuever better and correct some traction problems easier this way. What are some of the pro's and con's?

New landscape rake for clearing a food plot.

In order to get my new food plot ready for lime and tilling I needed a way to rake the remaining debris out of the dirt. Saturday morning I went and bought a 7 foot landscape rake from Mills Fleet Farm. I was in such a hurry to use it, I forgot to take a picture of it. It worked great. Here is a...

    Got rocks?

When tilling one of my food plots a couple months ago I ran into some rocks that were rather bothersome. So today I decided to go up there and try to remove them. "Up there", meaning on the top of my hill. Some of the locals that have seen my place think that I'm nuts for climbing that hill with...

Broke my grapple ( Am I the only one?)

Well, user error caused my grapple to break. I was pushing over trees while making a food plot in my woods. I did not see that I had the grapple tilted too far down and the center tooth on the jaw of the grapple contacted the tree before the bottom tines. When I pushed the tree it put too much...

    Flower pot idea

I found a cool looking tree stump in my woods that I thought would make a nice flower planter. It will make a nice addition to my GF's rock garden. I'm sure this idea is not new, it just took me a while to realize that I could do something with it. I must have went past it 300 times before the...

    Got my new thumb!

I got my new thumb from MIE (Michigan Iron & Equipment). Man, does that thing come in handy. Last year I moved a large pile of rocks with my loader and got a lot of dirt mixed in with them. While playing with the thumb, I moved the pile to get rid of the dirt. The thumb will also come in handy...

    New KK II Tiller

I finally had a chance to break out the new Kingkutter @ 72" tiller I bought last month. Checked the oil and grease, trimmed the PTO shaft to fit and tried her out. It was a bit too wet after a night of rain, but I had to try it out! The next day I went up to the top of my hill and tilled my...

    Grading scraper - which one?

I've been thinking of purchasing a Land Pride Grading Scraper. Either the GS1572 or the GS2584. The 72" weighs approx. 600 lbs and is rated for 25-50 hp and the 84" weights approx 822 lbs and is rated for 40 to 90 hp. My tractor is a NH boomer 3045 rated at 45 hp. Which scraper would work best...

Got to try out the new grapple today!

I took a vacation day today since the weather was unusually warm for this time of year and ran the hydraulic lines for my new grapple. The grapple worked great. Protecting attachments from the elements

Specifically, the hydraulic cylinders...... the rams. I have a few attachments that I do not have a shed to store them in. Picked up my new grapple

I picked up my new Wildkat grapple on Friday. I plan on running lines from my rear remotes to operate it. I can't wait to try it out. It seems to be well built. Here are some pics of it before I put it away.

    Hope this works!

I'm a relatively new tractor owner. In June of this year I purchased a Boomer 3045 with backhoe and a Land Pride rear blade. After reading many threads on here, I added skid shoes and a pipe to the edge of my rear blade. I have about 550' of gravel drive at my place and have never plowed snow...

    New guy and some projects

About 3 weeks ago I received delivery of my 2010 New Holland 3045. I configured it to include a FEL, backhoe and Land Pride RBT3584 rear blade. New tractor owner

Today I became a new tractor owner. I have been studying tractors for over a year. I stumbled across this site last year and thanks to the knowledgeable people here, I finally decided on a 2010 New Holland 3045. It has the TL250 loader and the 758C back hoe. I'm having 3 rear remotes installed...
