PTO to flat belt drive converter for old hammermill.

So I'm in the process of cleaning out my grandfathers barn and am thinking about trying to get his old hammermill back up and running. I don't have too much information on it other than it was made by Myers Sherman and has "FORDS" written on the sides, the business part is 12" wide, and made an...

How to fix Kubota tractors that make clicking buzzing grinding noise when starting.

Ok so my M9000 has been making these loud clicking grinding buzzing noises when I go to start it. Finally think I have figured it out the problem... it is a small diode enclosed in a yellow rubber boot behind the alternator. There is also another one up front that I have yet to get to but from...

Second baler fire I've had in two years.

This is the second baler I have to burn on me in two years. Fortunately I didn't own either one of them nor was I operating them at the time the caught on fire so I'm not on the hook, but still it is pretty odd for such a thing to happen two haying seasons in a row. Not for sure exactly what...

Farm lease = 300k in personal liability insurance?!?

Ok here is the deal, my mother and I have entered into a farm lease agreement wherein she leases her property to me to farm in exchange for cash. The deal is that the lease is the minimum amount necessary to keep the property in TN's greenbelt wherein land taxes are devalued to 25% of the...

    New shipping container shop...

Ok so I decided to get a shipping container and convert it into a storage building. I know, not really a tractor project, but I did use it to put in the driveway. It started out really ugly red color which made the inside very hot so I decided it needed a new coat of paint. Rust Oleum was my...

Ok whats wrong with these pictures.

This is my neighbor's nearly worn out disc mower he got on special for the low low price of $1200... but hey it still cuts! Anyways, class, can anyone tell me whats wrong with the pictures? The fact that the pics are dark or the fact that the rear drive pully is fubarred do not count.

Security & Theft  Caught a tractor thief in the act this afternoon...

I only left it running outside for a minute with the door open while getting ready to go put out a load of fertilizer. I come back to find the culprit sitting in the seat trying to figure out how to put it in gear. Thank goodness I don't have any secret baked bean recipes or else I'd really be...

Neightbor's daughter falls 45ft down into well...

There was a big brewhaha next door yesterday afternoon. The neighbor's 14yo daughter was playing on top of an abandoned hand dug well. Apparently the well had a concrete cap on it, and for whatever reason it gave way and she fell about 45 feet down into waist deep water. Rescue squad was on...

Learning to operate a grain drill, at night, in wet ground, right before a storm...

I was busting my tail trying to get some wheat planted before it put into raining last night. There was just enough light to get it around the field about 3 rounds before it got dark enough to require lights. Then about an hour later, it started lighting off in the distance, but I kept on...

Someone shot out my back tire, again!

Left the tractor in the field acroos the highway in front of the house for a few days.. it was parked maybe 75 yards from the house in plain sight. This morning I got on it to work up some deer food plots. Well I got to running, and when I pulled over for a break I noticed that I was not the...

    Pasture renovation project...

Bout a month ago I decided to renovate a couple of my pastures... two of them have not been worked or limed in at least 15 years. It was starting to go primarly to broomsedge and weeds with a little bit of fescue in the spring time. The big first field's pH had gotten so low that fertilzing in...

How long should the teeth be in a spike tooth harrow?

I got an old spike tooth harrow made by King Plow company. It just so happens to have adjustible depth teeth by loosening a small "u clamp" similar to those used to clamp pipes to flat surfaces. Problem is that the threads on the clamps have pretty much long since rusted to where they cannot...

Oil & Fuel  Is there a fuel filter out there that will cross with an M9000?

I'm needing a new fuel filter. Dealer has them for a ridiculous price not to mention it is a 40 mile drive. Is there any fuel filter out there that will cross with them that I might pick up local?

Looking for a new disc mower... brands?

Well I got to run a disc mower for the first time Sunday it was a beat up new holland 463 with dull blades, but dang I was impressed! Those things blow sickle bar mowers out of the water... I'm spoiled now and from this point on refuse to use any more sickles. I think I will look over the...

Can you cut a u-joint spider out?

I'm trying to replace a u-joint bearing in a large PTO shaft, and my vice is not quite big enough to handle two sockets to drive it out. Can I cut the spider out with a torch or welder, then press out the bearing cups one by one?

    Any biodieselers in here?

Here lately I've been working on doing small test batches of biodiesel. All have appeared to have turned out OK without scientifical testing, and I have just bought a lab setup to be able to titrate the free fatty acid content to mix in the proper catalyst amounts during transesterification...

Almost became a statistic myself this morning...

Was cutting down a tree that was busted in the middle and leaning pretty good. I was almost to the point where it was ready to fall then it split all the way up to the busted part. Don't really remember what happened thereafter but all I know it split, the split part went up in the air, then...

    M9000 "whines" when in 4WD...

M9000 \"whines\" when in 4WD... Dunno why, you don't hear it when running in 2WD mode. I'm worried that something may be wrong with it internally. Also, could it be the fact that I have UDT in the front axle case rather than 80w-90 gear oil? UDT is a lot thinner...

    3PH Caddy?

Another one of my prodjects is I would like to rent out compact implements such as post hole diggers, rollers, box blades, discs, brush hogs, flail mowers, etc. Now obviously getting the equipment from point a to point b would be easily accomplished via trailer. But, the catch is you gotta...

    Plastic fence post maker...

Ok I been thinking, 5 inch posts at my TSC are like $10+. So what if you could make your own posts out of plastic bottles, jugs, or even better the sheeting used to wrap silage and other bales of hay? Basically the idea woudl be similar to a log splitter, cept with a pipe on the I-beam for...

Anyone ever baled corn for silage?

Was thinking about getting a silage special and start baling corn then wrapping it in the field for balage. Has anyone ever done this? Seems to me even though it would be more expensive, I could run a lot more cattle as I would not have to have nearly as much land for hay.

Stupid lil dirt dobber broke my $30,000 Kubota...

Apparently the breather line going to the transmission of my M9000 is a prime home site. Same with the AC drains, and fuel tank breather lines. Once plugged pressure in the transmission caused a cap to blow off the top and shoot hydraulic fluid everywhere. Naturally this only happens in tall...

    Dealer needs a good bashing...

I seriously got rubbed the wrong way a couple of weeks ago by a local New Holland dealer. Notice I did not say MY dealer, they are not gonna get a dime of my money and I am going to tell everyone who will stand still long enough not to do business with them. Anyone got the mailing address for...

Sickle Bar  MF sickle mower woes...

I'm in the process of trying to get an old MF 41 Dyna Balance Mower up and running again. I have just about come to the conclusion that these things are pieces of junk. Common problems: Broken balancer arm (part that fits under the lift arm of the tractor) Warped frame (thats whats the...
