Besides the hp, did you have any other reasons for not going with a JCB. I had some interest in them because of the side door, but couldn't find much feedback as far as reliability goes. I don't know of anyone in my area that has a JCB.

My Curtis blade was originally a solid mount. I modified it to a floating blade. I helped convert other solid mounts. It usually isn't that hard or expensive. If you post a photo of your setup I'm sure the folks on the forum could help you redesign it if you want to.

I have a Curtis plow that was a pin on loader mount. I converted it to SSQA with a floating/ chain mount blade. It works pretty much like a truck/frame mounted plow. The PVC pipe is for storage so the SSQA plate remains upright. I'll remove it before doing any plowing.

I had a similar problem with my 5055e. Turns out it was the starter solenoid that is part of the starter assembly. At that time only a complete starter assembly was available from JD. I found an aftermarket solenoid online. Problem solved.

You are correct! Turns out the thermostat was NG as well as the fan switch. I replaced the temperature gauge with one that is easier to read and changed the thermostat. We were without power for a couple of days and our generator doesn't feed the shop so the fan switch was put on hold.

My expensive lesson was that the width of the tires and the track width of the drive wheels has more to do with performance on side slopes than tread design. It's in the leverage. I'm not saying that tread design has no effect it just may not be enough. It wasn't in my case.

I don't think this was mentioned, so here goes. You should try to keep your fuel tank pretty full. The air space in the tank contributes to moisture. I would also recommend something like Power Service fuel additive.

Only one thing I would add to rScotty's post. I have had good luck with synthetic hydro oil. I think it works better in cold weather. Different issue, but I had a NH hydro drive that was much less whiney after changing to synthetic. Nobody likes a whiner.

Tree spades as mentioned are best on skid steers. I did find that this spade style penetrates the ground easier than the flat bottom type. I kept this spade after selling my Bobcat. I use it mostly for transplanting bushes/small trees.

I had a 3240 w/loaded R1 tires, and 3 sets of wheel weights. Lifting anything but light loads, I found it tippy if I didn't use my counterweight. I would suggest you load the tires, and put at least 800lbs on the 3PH. Best, Bill

I don't know if your dealer told you, but that tractor will accept a 553 loader which is what goes on the 5E's. Lift cap goes up quite a bit, and it's a QA loader. While yours is still new, if you want to swap it out, now would be the time. Here is a photo of my 5E w/ 553 loader.

These come in lots of different pipe sizes. If you back to back them you can attach two pipes at any angle. @ your local electricial supply store.

New, compact counterweight w/2 in sq reciever about 800 lbs (cost was less than $20 BTW) + Wheel weights 360 lbs (cost $378) + loaded tires 480 lbs. Total 1640 lbs. Works for me, for what I do. Different tractors react differently. Obviously your mileage may vary.:D
