    memories of your grandparents

I don't post very often but do read a lot but regardless, I am interested in what y'all think makes for good grandparents. I didn't have much of a relationship with my grandparents and unfortunately my parents have not been too good with my son either. Seems they are always too "busy" and/or...

opinions on whether to bail someone out of jail.

Just looking for some opinions on this issue. I more or less have my mind made up but it constantly bothers me. So, there is this kid (18-19) that has worked for me a few times. He is a hard worker and we got along really well. However, he has no father, mom is a real piece of white trash...

    dispatching a large groundhog.

I've got this monster of a groundhog that showed up last year and destroyed my garden. I guess they hibernate cause I haven't seen it this winter but if he is still around it has to go. Question is would a 22 be enough to take him out? I would prefer a 223 but I don't have one.

I recently made a couple of more knives just for fun. The first is from an old rusty file with a birds eye maple and I put flush an Indian head penny in the handle base. The second is a nessmuk style with cocobolo handle.

    TBN gathering

I was just thinking how big of a gathering TBN could have, sort of like a convention or trade show type of thing. Imagine an event where every tractor manufacturer, tool, gun, hunting, equipment manufacturer of all sorts would gather to have a giant.show related to all of the different topics...

    got a couple of pigs

Every year or so I get a couple of feeder pigs to finish for slaughtering. They are a hoot to raise and quite funny at times. They keep all the under brush cleaned out and they sure taste good. Two hogs will fill a full size freezer top to bottom. Anyone else here raise hogs?

found this by the hog pen gate today

A couple months ago I set a 6x6x8 post into the ground and dumped the dirt along side. Today I walk out and found this. The rain exposed it for me. Don't know how deep it was originally, but somewhere between ground surface and two feet.

    magazines similar to TBN??

I've been reading through tbn as I often do and while I don't mind reading on the computer, I was wondering if there are any magazines that are similar in content and style of tbn. Doesn't mean I'll ever give up the real tbn though. Just curious?

I bought a 6 cubic foot wheelbarrow with wooden handles yesterday. Usually I use the ones with rubber handles. I noticed right off that the wooden ones are not as good since they become slippery when working. Anyone have any ideas on how to make them grip better?

mid-life job change. what would you do?

I sometimes wonder what I would do if I was faced with a mid-life career change for whatever reason. I always hear that starting over is often hard and means starting again at the bottom. Anyone ever done this and what was or would be a good second career if you're in the forties or fifties?
