Backhoe  How do you store a backhoe when off the tractor?

I'm thinking about taking off my backhoe (BT600) for Winter and leaving a rear blade on so I'm ready for snow. I've never had the backhoe off for more than a few hours, so I'm concerned about leakdown and either the backhoe falling over in the garage, or leaking down to the point that the hoses...

Is it a BUSH HOG or a BRUSH HOG ?

Since childhood I have heard the term Bush Hog, but now on TBN I'm hearing several people use the term Brush Hog. Which term is the correct one???

BX22 HST Fan and Shaft Dust Boot Replacement

The fan that cools that HST on the bx22 is a cheap plastic fan that is not well protected from branches that flip up under the tractor. I lost several blades off mine, so I ordered a new one (well 3 new ones to be exact). They are cheap, only $4 but it's not a 5 minute job! I tried to do it...

    Digging up boulders (pics)

Today while digging the pond, I came across a large boulder. I estimate it weighs a couple thousand pounds. The poor Kubota could not lift it. So I pulled out the pickup with the 8000Lb winch and with the winch pulling from up above (operated by the Mrs) and the kubota down below helping to...

Putting the bx-22 to good use -- pine tree hauling

We had a pine tree leaning at a 45 degree angle towards our house so I decided to cut it down before it fell down. In the old days, I would have cut off all the branches then cut the trunk into small pieces to haul it away, but then I remembered, I have a Kubota! I cut the tree into 4 sections...

homemade bucket hitch -- attaches with clevis pins

I made a bucket hitch that slides on and attaches with two clevis pins. The only force on the pins is to keep it from sliding side to side. All the downward pressure is handled by the top and bottom plates which are made of 3/8 plate and 1"x1" bar. It works well. See photos on this web page

anti-scalp wheels fall off -- tighten your nuts!

A couple of weeks ago while tilling the garden with my bx-22, one of the anti-scalp wheels fell off the mid mount mower. Fortunately I saw it happen and picked it up but the nut was lost. Then not being smart enough to check the remaining nuts I cut the grass a week later, looked down, and...

How do you shorten a PTO shaft?

If I have a PTO shaft that is too long, what is the best way to shorten it? Cut a section out of the middle then weld it back together? Or is there a better way? If I weld it, how precisely do the two tubes need to be lined up?

Yanmar tiller on BX-22, will the PTO shaft fit?

I'm considering a used 52" yanmar tiller for my bx-22. I've read a lot of posts on here about some attachments needing to have the pto shaft shortened to fit a bx-22, and I have also been told that the pto shaft on the yanmar tillers is too short for some tractors. It sounds like the right...

Tiller  Where to find used tiller in Ohio?

I've been reading the postings in this forum about different brands of tillers, and the thing I've noticed about almost all of them is that they are very EXPENSIVE. I'd like a 40-48" 3-point tiller for my Kubota BX-22, but it seems kind of nuts to spend $1000 on a tiller to grow $50 worth of...

    BX-22 driveshaft dust boot shot

Yesterday I was running the tractor when I started hearing a loud THUMP, THUMP, THUMP of something hitting the floorboard of the tractor from underneath. I had the mower deck on (but not running) and could not see anything. I took the deck off, climbed under and found (attached photo) the boot...

Toothbars, how much is too much?

I've been reading the threads on here about toothbars, but haven't seen much about price. I just called Marham, and they want $158 for a toothbar, but then want $92 shipping to ship it to my house. That's $250 for a piece of steel only 46.25 inches long. Seems a bit high to me. Does anyone...

Oil & Fuel  On road diesel -vs- off-road diesel

Does anyone know the difference between on-road diesel and off-road diesel? If I go to the gas station, I can only buy one kind of diesel fuel, but if I buy from a local oil company, I can buy either on-road diesel or off-road diesel, and of course it's less expensive, but you have to buy 100...

My BX-22 has a flat tire

I suppose it had to happen eventually; I have a flat tire. There's a nice big roofing nail right through the bar on a front tire. Not sure how it got there. Anyway, I've seen lots of talk on this forum about foam filling tires, etc; but I need a quick fix to get my baby on the road again...

    BX-22 Heavy Duty Alternator?

I would like to add a couple of 100W driving lites to the top of my ROPS for better lighting when the bucket is up in front of the headlights at night, but they would draw 16.7 amps of current at 12V, and I doubt that the little dinky alternator on my BX-22 can put out that much. I've heard a...

    BX-22 front loader won't rollback

BX-22 front loader won\'t rollback My BX-22 is just 4 months out of warranty, and now the front loader won't rollback. When I move the control valve to rollback, the engine groans a little like pressure is being applied, but the bucket won't move. I thought maybe the bucket or cylinder was...
