noticed the new 8600 series is now on the US/Canada massey ferguson website. MF 8600 Series only question...does anyone know why in Europe there is an 8690 and in US the series stops with 8680? the 8690 appears to have 20 more eng. hp-370 vs 350. i might like to have that extra hp for mowing my...

Towing capacity of small compact tractor?

I need to navigate through a tricky trail through the woods with a tandem-axled trailer to haul out some stumps, brush piles, etc. I plan on using my tractor to get the trailer out to a point to where I can attach it to my truck. The trailer probably weighs about 2200+ lbs. empty. I was...

Anyone heard about a 2720? found info.

On JD website under manuals, I was playing around typing in possible new model numbers and found manuals for 2720 & 3005 models. 3005 basically uses 790 manual. 2720 is in 2520's body, but with more power. 30.5 gross eng. & 23.5 PTO @ 2500 rpms...

    1 bottom plow

Low Profile Plow: Leinbach Machinery Catalog Standard size plow: Leinbach Machinery Catalog Which one of these plows would work best for my MF 1523? It is a small-framed compact (size above sub-CUT), with full category one hitch. For reference, it is same size as JD 2320, Kubota 7610, NH...

Do I need a Low Profile Plow?

Considering on buying a single bottom moldboard plow for my MF 1523. I was debating on a standard size vs. low profile(used on sub-CUTs). 1523 is a small framed CUT, equal in size to JD 2320(4110),NH TC26(TC24), and Kubota 7610. It seems like the standard size 1 x 14" would work, but I'd like...

    Nebraska Tractor Test

With all the growing popularity of CUTs & subCUTs, why don't the folks at the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab. start testing tractors with under 40 hp? I have their book that covers from 1920 to 1984, and they used to test all sizes, no matter how small, all the way through 1984.

    Storing 3PH post-hole digger

I bought a Leinbach Post Hole Digger with 12" auger and so far I've planted 7 trees, and 17 bushes. It works wonderful. Now, how in the world do I store it? Hook-up and unhooking is very awkward for me. I had someone say just to drill it in the ground and let the hitch hang. I would like to...

low profile or standard moldboard plow?

I have a MF 1523 (small-frame CUT). If I get a single bottom moldboard plow, do I need the "low profile" version or a standard size 1 bottom. The low profile seems to me to be sized maybe for a subCUT(GC2300, JD2305, etc.) . My 1523 is sized with the JD 4110, Kubota 7610, NH TC26DA. I was...

    Been impressed with my Massey!

.....Just an update now that I've gotten some seat time on my MF 1523. So far I've been really impressed with this little tractor. .... I've taken the 60" woods mower through untouched, 10-12" tall grass, and the tractor rpms are un-phased. ....I've used the CCM 49" Tiller in both rock-hard...

Oil & Fuel  RPMs at Diesel Start-up

In my owner's manual, the procedure for start-up is: "Set hand throttle lever at half to fully open position"; then once you start it and engine runs smoothly, "set engine speed back down to approx. 1500 rpm(close to idle) to allow engine warm up." This was also reaffirmed by the dealer...

    Old vs. New models:Torque comparisons

I was wondering how the current CUTs or even subCUTs compare with older vintage tractors in torque. For example, an old International 140 or Allis Chalmers CA with 26-27 PTO HP; do they have a lot more torque than a modern CUT with equal HP? My new tractor is a MF 1523 gear which has 18.7 PTO...

    Got My 1523 today!

I feel like a 6 year old on Christmas morning! I've been playing for the past 3 hours with my new toy, and I LOVE IT!!! I have a MF 1523, a red Woods RD 60 mower, and a CCM MR130 49" tiller. This tiller is a little more heavy-duty than their CR 50" that I had originally planned on...

    Finally decided on MF 1523

After a year or so comparing every tiny detail of every spec and dimension of different manufacturers, I've decided to go with the MF 1523. I'm going with a hydro instead of a gear mainly because on the 1523, the gear doesn't have an "independant PTO" option for the rear PTO. It's my...

Ballast  rear wheel weights for small chassis?

In the "1500 Series" brochure booklet where rear wheel weights are mentioned, it states "Wheel weights are available for use on large chassis R1,R3, and R4 tires." So, does MF make a rear weight for the smaller models? I can see they have a hole pattern to accept wheel weights. Maybe this is...

    2320 engine

I've heard the 2320 will share the same TNV76 engine as the 2305. When looking on the John Deere website under manuals, it says the x595 also uses this engine. Does the x595 really have the same engine as the larger 2320 cousin, or is this a misprint?

    Turning Radius

I am curious if anyone can tell me what the turning radius is on the MF 1523? I would ask for numbers with and without brakes, but it's my understanding the 1523 Hydro doesn't have turning brakes. I'm wanting info. to compare to its competitors. Thanks for any info.

Hydro to run at least @ 2500 rpms?

In reading another Post, it was stated that with a hydrostatic transmission, you should keep the rpms over 2500 or it could shorten the life of the transmission. It seems as if running the throttle wide-open all the time it would shorten the life of the engine. What are some opinions on this...
