Performance-wise, it's been a beast. Never has left me sitting, starts every time/first time. With the grapple and finish mower as counterweight, I've picked up many 16-foot oak logs, some a couple feet in diameter (carried in LOW range, close to the ground, in the center). Will the pallet...
This 550-hour post is made as an adjunct/follow-on to my 50-hour service post which you can find here RK55 Hydrostatic 50-hour Service: My first big RK post It should be noted that I performed the 300-hour service (engine oil/filter change, plus check and lube) at 300 hours EXACTLY on 9/12/2021...
Almost 550 hours on my RK55HC - preparing to do second hydro change plus full service. Problems: leaking tilt cylinder on loader (warranty), getting the filters off for the first change (see my 50-hour service thread), backhoe pin without a grease fitting (warranty), 3rd function gets...
I have the same as Gunny - the grapple is great. Has picked up and held onto just about everything I've asked of it.
Reached it's "pucker factor" capacity with this oak round 7+ft across.
Sorry for the sideways-ness...
I was at the Washington Capitals hockey game last night (2/8 vs. the Flyers) at the Capital One Arena and saw this:
First time I have seen a tractor company sponsor an arena. Of course, they were pushing only the Roxor UTV but still pretty cool when your a "tractor guy"...
I was welding expanded steel on my RK55HC's grill guard today and took a close look at the 3rd function valve. Not receiving documentation about it from RK and not having a 3rd function before, I was wondering what this adjustment knob does...anyone mess with it yet?
Thanks in advance.
I removed the subframe backhoe RK BH85 from my RK55HC shortly after I received it. Played with it, dug a couple holes, removed a couple stumps first, but it was mowing season and the finish mower took priority. I have never had a backhoe before (let alone removed/remounted one), so watched a...
RK55HC - Automatic DPF Regeneration Experience
From my reading of the owner's manual and my own experience, I have concluded that the RK55HC has two regeneration cycles: one automatic (done while operating the tractor with no operator intervention necessary) and one stationary (which requires...
I've posted these pictures of the sticker behind the dashboard and shop manual cover for my tractor in the past...
Yes, it's "badge engineering" (like GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Deere, New Holland, Massey, IH, and many brands do).
I'm a fan of NASCAR driver Michael McDowell and started following him when my company sponsored the 95 car a couple years back at Leavine Racing. He now drives the 34 for Front Row Motorsports, who fields the 38 (Ragan) as well as the 36 (JHNemechek), which has a sponsorship from Yanmar...
This is a long post and took me about a week to do the service, take pictures, communicate with RK, and edit. Please let me know if anything should be corrected. With my comments below, I am assuming the person doing their own service has a level of comfort and familiarity with fluid changes...
Still very clean!
I got mine a little dusty last week (we are having a minor drought here in the metro-DC area). After major tree work, here I am testing the limits of the grapple, loader, tractor, and pucker (16" thick live white oak over 6ft in some places). VERY slow and VERY deliberate...
First, somehow you started two identical threads - you may want to contact Muhammed, the Webmaster, and ask him if he can combine them.
Second, I have experience in both - bought a used tractor and a new tractor. Twenty years ago I bought my NH TC40D used from a dealer. It was back from a...
Re: Nobody has "a case of the Mondays" at The Farm - RK55HC delivered this afternoon!
Thanks! I looked at the parts diagram and saw that it went behind the cab left side. But on mine, the washer fluid reservoir is there. I'd love to see what yours looks like.
Nobody has "a case of the Mondays" at The Farm - RK55HC delivered this afternoon!
Communication with my salesman was excellent - called me this morning to setup delivery. Delivery company owner/operator Mike took great care in loading (many, many straps and tie-downs) and unloading in the barn...
Got called Thursday that the tractor had been delivered from Ohio. Friday, it was inspected by the mechanic and salesperson and got called about 3pm. No way I'm heading west on I-66 at rush hour on a Friday, so went in this morning (Saturday) to inspect/accept it and make final payment...
Since RK apparently doesn't offer short-term 0% financing (a no-cost option that would give us a few months float to sell the older tractor - we cannot sell first since we MUST always have a tractor here), we found the money to get:
-RK55HC
-Loader
-3rd function
-72" grapple
-Backhoe with extra...
I'm seriously looking at getting a loaded RK55HC and tried to negotiate a cash price discount. No joy/they will not discount the tractors. Anyway, the salesman did offer that they were negotiable on the YELLOW-painted King Kutter implements. Apparently they are changing their implement color...
When hooking up the backhoe, does the 3 point hitch hardware (arms/sway links) remain or does all/some pieces need to be removed? I cannot find a video and the owner's manual is not clear. I ask because Kioti makes a big deal that nothing is removed when installing the backhoe.
Let's say -HYPOTHETICALLY- that a 16LA owner forgets to pin the kickstand up after reinstalling the loader and hooks a big root while backing up. Further, let's assume the U-shaped bracket where it is pinned and hinged (left side) is disfigured beyond use.
What do you think would be the best...
First Choice 84\" Rear Finish Mower Review
After researching 7 foot mowers, I selected the First Choice 84" rear-discharge rear finish mower to replace my Landpride AT2572 AirTunnel 72" mower. I wanted to ungrade because:
-I like my grass high and the side-discharge combined with wet, tall...

Is it my imagination or did the New Holland forums drop down a position on the list of forums? It seems that the NH forum was positioned below Kubota's and above Deere's. Now it is below both of those. Should we read something into the reshuffling of this order? Will it show up on the Drudge...
The \"straw\" that breaks the camel\'s back, or.....
....tips your tractor over on its nose.
The most used implement on my tractor is the front-end loader with pallet forks. The other day, I was moving square bales of hay from the second story of the barn onto a pallet. If I stack them...
I just changed my oil at the 250 hour mark. Since winter is fast approaching, I decided to use Rotella Synthetic 5W40 in my New Holland TC40D. After I pulled the inner seal off the bottle, I detected a pungent, almost sulphurous odor. When I poured it, I noticed the smell was stronger and...
Attached is a picture of the upright/lift cylinder connection. As you can see, there are 2 holes: one used and the other empty. I have gone over the loader manual and it doesn't explicitly state why 2 holes exist. However, drawings seem to indicate the the upper hole is for the 16LA and the...
This spring, I was one of the testers for the Dual-Axis tiltmeter prototypes. By volunteering, Rick sent me a unit at to install and use with the only stipulation that I post all feedback, positive and negative, on this website. I had many positive things to say about it, but only two...
Are your referring to the Challenger Line of compact tractors? I think they are rebadged MF/Agco/Iseki units marketed by Caterpillar...
Check the link....it says, "And all of these great new machines are sold, serviced and supported by the world-renowned Caterpillar dealer network -- the best...
It seems that TSC expanded its offerings of the Cub Cadet line. Anyone who needs a gasoline powered little tractor can get the 7254 and 7252 at the one in Warrenton, VA.

There is only one regret about selecting my New Holland TC40D w/ 16LA loader - that it doesn't have a self-leveling loader. IMHO, that is where the Kioti DK45 & DK50 have it all over the competition with loaders: the available 1590 loader is self-leveling.
Has anyone converted their loader to...
Something has changed....New over the past 24hours:
Used to be that if I looked under a forum (even if I didn't read all the new posts), the next time I looked, they would be displayed as older/read.
Now, even if I don't read them, they are STILL displayed as "new". Also, there are posts...
I just noticed this situation on my TC40D:
I put a steering wheel spinner (aka: suicide knob) on my steering wheel. I parked with the wheels straight and installed the spinner on the spoke at the 6 oclock position.
Since then, I have noticed that the spinner does not always line up at 6 when...
My tractor came December 31. I bought a used Landpride 72" rear finish mower. I spent a day and about $40 reconditioning and tuning it. FINALLY, the grass in the old hayfield (6-7 acres) is tall enough to mow for the first time. So, I clear my day's schedule so me and my "baby blue" can have...
I picked up a used 72" Landpride finish mower. It currently has solid tires (which were an extra $ option) on it, but one of the wheels is worn out at the axle.
Since I am replacing one wheel and the others are pretty worn, I am wondering about the advantages and disadvantages replacing all...
Just wanted to document this before I throw away the package:
I added auxilliary lighting to my TC40D and wanted to use a rocker switch in the dashboard (there are 3 empty spaces.) I found a stock switch at Lowes for less that $4 that fits PERFECTLY in one of the cutouts:
GB Gardner Bender...
I was getting ready to lube my TC40D for the first time and was looking at the fittings - the grease was <font color="blue">blue </font> in color. I thought to myself, "This is weird.... "
First, I did a search on this site and found that blue grease is usually marine grease and not...
Neither the tractor or logsplitter owner's manual state the following:
<font color="red"> Adding a hydraulic implement using your tractor's rear remote uses a SURPRISINGLY large amount of hydraulic fluid. </font>
I finally purchased the TSC 3ph logsplitter and connected it to my rear remote...
I did my first modifications to my tractor last week. Like everyone here, it seems, a front-end loader gets in the way of most grill-mounted headlights. Add my grillguard, and I can't see anything unless I carry the bucket 2" off the ground or 4-5 feet high. I have also been wanting to see...
OK. All right. Guess what?
My TC40D had been running cool for the first 20 hours I have owned it, so (per the advice of many TBNers) I clamped off the bypass hose and was amazed how the temperature stayed within the middle of the green zone. I even commented that I could see the needle move...
I have a New Holland TC40D with R4's (rear loaded with CaCl) plus a 6' box scraper and I still get some tire spin digging in with the loader. Granted it's been muddy, but I've also felt the rear being a little light with the loader lifting.
I've been thinking about wheel weights and came...
Fueled my "baby blue" for the first time and got #2 on my hands. Washed them three times with hand soap and then dish soap. Now they smell like a lemon-y garage.
What works for you all?

Dear Folks,
I can now put up Excel spreadsheets. Attached is my first comparison of pricing for 38-40hp shuttleshift units. As you will see from my pricing, I required items that MAY be optional depending on the brand. I was surprised that some dealers were trying to charge extra for...
Anyone ever use their front end loader to lift up the end of a car or truck for service?
I started thinking I could drive my little lawn tractors up on the forks and lift it up to remove blades, change oil, etc. Then I started thinking: could I lift my cars up (on one end/side only) for...
I am in the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC and have been shopping seriously for 40-50hp 4WD shuttle-shift compact tractors of the following brands and models:
New Holland TC40, TC45
Kubota L3710/3830, L4310/4330, L4610/4630
John Deere 4510, 4610, 4710
Kioti DK40, DK45, DK50
Branson 4020...
After 2 years of casual shopping, 3 months of intense research and 4 weeks of price quotes, I bought a TC40D.
It will be here next week. It has been out for 6 months and has 31 hours on it, so there are still 18 months on the full and 30 months on the powertrain warranties.
It came with all...
Over the past two months, I have been trying to look at the new Grand L 30 series, but they have been slow coming in. So far, I've driven the 3130HST and seen the 5030HSTC and 4330HST on lots. That's it.
I understand the west-coast dockworker's strike slowed transport, but two different...
Hey, all! I've been lurking about for the past few months absorbing the experience and wisdom of the NH forums and want to thank you all for sharing your thoughts and opinions. And now I want to ask you all to evaluate the following:
I'm ready to buy - I have my list of needs, I have the...
A Kioti in Cub\'s clothing
While visiting a combined Kioti/Cub dealer today, the sales guy told me that MTD is going to begin private-labeling a Daedong/Kioti model as a Cub Cadet. I don't remember which one, but I think it is in the 40HP range. If you scratch the <font...
--> Hey, Vin!!!! You listening!!!!!!!!!???
I knew you were..... <--
Tested the DK50 today with the 1470 loader and I am in love ! Now if I can only afford it.... I LOVE the sound of the turbo spinning - I can see why Vin (daedong) loves his.
This is the first one I have seen or driven with...
What does \"self leveling\" loader mean?
In one of my earlier questions about loaders, Kiohio replied in part:
"My 45's and 50's only get the 1590 unless a customer requests one of the others, the self-leveling feature is just too nice."
What does "self-leveling" mean exactly? My guess...
Hey, all!
The Kioti website has both tractors specs and loader specs. Unless I missed it, however, there is nothing definitive which tells which loader(s) match up with which tractor(s). I emailed Kioti twice in the past 2 weeks, but they have neither gotten back with me nor acknowleged my...
Hey, all!
Just was browsing through ebay and found a Kioti for sale in Syracuse NY and thought someone here may be interested. I don't know anything about it just passing on info.

New poster here, although I've reviewed all posts since January '02. I feel like this is comfortable place to be - many likeable, helpful people. Like many others, I have been seeing specs in my head all night. I finally put it all on a spreadsheet in hopes of a good night's sleep. I thought...
I found a Ford 1120 listed for sale in the classifieds on this site. A search of this site and the net using Google and Yahoo comes up with no information about any specs except that it appears to be 40hp. Any info about it would be appreciated.
BTW, this site is GREAT! I have thoroughly...
