    2120 SCV Adjustment

I should also mention that I did take another look in better lighting, and there are Allen key holes on the set screws. I have the adjustment protocol in my service manual, which mentions a lot of use of a dial indicator. I also saw some online people that stopped using this dial indicator...

    2120 SCV Adjustment

Hi there. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me the proper way to adjust the SCV on my 2120. The story is that the lever suddenly felt like it wasn't engaging anything, so I pulled the top cap off, and seeing the 4 adjustment bolts, took them off thinking I might be able to get...

    JD 2120 hydraulics

I know this is an old thread, but figured I'd report my findings. I finally opened up the SCV to find a poppet valve of one of the pressure valves was all gummed up and stuck. It's spring was even stuck in a compressed position to the valve. I cleaned it all up and reassembled it.

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Thanks all for your help so far. Just wanted to report that I finished up putting the tractor back together last night and was able to start it up! I did decide to use the john deere break in oil. Any other tips on the break in process?

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

It turned that I have a friend who had a seal installer at work, so luckily I was able to use that. Next up, I've been reading about setting the piston rings on first start up, and I was hoping you guys could tell me what I need to do. I already have my pistons installed. I did not wash my new...

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Am I able to use it in place of the old seal? Is it an improvement? Or do I need to get a different seal?

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Yet another question. The rear crank seal that came with my kit is the style that kind of has two rings and one spins inside the other (hope that makes sense). The seal that I took off the tractor is a single seal where the lip seals against the wear ring. Is this intended to be a new improved...

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

I judged TDC by hand. Is there a better way without a dial indicator? I also read about timing gear backlash and I definitely did not over rotate and come back to adjust for that so maybe that's something else I need to try.

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Are the pump marks supposed to line up at first piston TDC? Or just before TDC?

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

I used a fishing line with a loop in it to wrap around the crank shaft, then using a straight edge to ensure the line was in the middle of the shaft.

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Next question. I have the gears all timed at the front, and I have the injection pump mounted. I don't know if I had to do this, but I checked the timing marks inside the pump. As far as I know, the A mark is supposed to line up with a mark on the snap ring, but there is no mark on the snap...

    2120 Engine Rebuild Questions

Hey guys. I'm about to start assembly on my engine and have a question. I am sure I'll have more, so starting this thread in hopes to get some help. First question, in regards to cylinder liner o rings. When I disassembled, I had 1 packing and 2 red o rings per liner. My rebuild kit from...

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Turns out the online store sources their parts from the uk, mostly from Anglo agriparts. Not sure if anyone has experience with them.

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

As I had mentioned earlier, I have to replace the crankshaft and do major rebuild in this tractor too. I was looking at rebuild kits, and found a place online that has them for either 850 or 950 CDN. I don't know the brand of the parts, I hope to call to find out, but I assume they are imports...

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Thanks for all of the input everyone. In case anyone is curious, when i pulled the flywheel off, I found that the pilot bearing was seized. I suspect that was the cause of the problem.

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Hey all. So I finally got around to splitting my 2120 apart and was hoping to post a video of the components in the clutch housing to get your opinions on what is normal. I think the throw out bearing is worn out, but there is also some play in those shafts (sorry, I don't know the names). It's...

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

    CASE CK skid steer info

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this skid steer. This is a unit that is for sale. Ad says Case CK. Unknown year, but they suspect its from the 90's. Says there is a 30 hp gas engine. I couldn't see any other model numbers, but also could not locate any info on a Case CK skid...

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Thanks guys. One rod journal is 68.7 MM, while the other three are 69.7. I am assuming that means the crank needs to come out. For a tractor split, is it possible to use an engine hoist to support the front from the side to move the front end forward, and then support it with blocking? Thanks

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Ok guys, I will probably eventually start a new thread to help with my new problem, but quickly wanted to ask this. Shortly after I was posting about the Clutch, the tractor developed a knock and lots of blowby. I have the engine apart in frame and have found a bad rod bearing. I'm thinking...

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

I couldn't seem to locate a grease zerk when I looked through the inspection window. Maybe some tractors didn't have them installed? Is there any way that I could grease the throwout bearing without a zerk, or anything else I could try?

    John Deere 2120 Clutch Problems

Hey all. So I have an old 2120, can't remember the year off the top of my head, but one the old ones. Lately, I've been having trouble getting it into gear. Most times when I have the Clutch fully in, the gears grind bad, almost like the clutch isn't in at all. Then sometimes it seems to not...

    JD 2120 hydraulics

Here are some photos Jim. Hopefully you can make it out, I know there is a fair amount of grease and oil on them. I did notice that when I push the lever forward, I can easily feel a click as the a internal component on the lever pin hits its limit on the top/back of the housing. I can feel...

    JD 2120 hydraulics

Hey all. I have a jd 2120 (the old one) that has 2 sets of remotes at the back of the tractor. 1 set runs the after market 3 pt, and works great. The other set will only push a cylinder one way. I did ensure the cylinder works fine on the other remote. I changed the QCs, which did not fix...

    Snowblower Size

Hey all. Hoping to get some opinions on how a particular size of snowblower will work on my tractor. The tractor is a 2120 JD, with 68 HP, and 60 HP at PTO. Looking to put a 3 pt snowblower on it. One issue I am having is that the outside width of the tires is 7 1/2 feet. Therefore, I'd...
